my '23 zx6r has a tune that smoothes out the on/off of the throttle and the QS works WAYYYY better when the throttle is open. even when you're already at highish rpm its still might not shift very smooth. key is throttle open. I love my zx6r!
12:02 positive neutral feature is a gift and a curse until you figure out how to use it correctly. I got stuck in neutral a handful of times at lights until I read the owners manual. At like 10-15 mph, you need to downshift from 2nd to 1st. If you come to a full stop and click down 1, it'll go to neutral, BUT that's when you get stuck lol. Gotta blip the throttle and keep clicking down until the bike goes into 1st. That's been my experience anyway. I have a 2022 Kawasaki Z900.
@Fee.1 yep. I did all of that. Rolled forward and backward while clicking down on the shifter 100 times. Eventually, I got into 1st, but I found that blipping the throttle while clicking down on shifter works best. I'm not scared to down shift to 1st before coming to a stop ever since I learned how to rev match. I no longer get stuck. I know what to do if it happens again.

I’m picking up the ZX6R anniversary today. I’ve owned couple ZX10-R and a GSX1000. Thing I like about the ZX6R it feels so light and nimble. This will be my 29th bike. I have 4 bikes now. One is a 2023 Hayabusa which is a blast to ride. So much power and smooth. Oh yeah, I’m 3/4 of a century old. So you never get to old to ride as long as you take care of yourself.

It’s the fuel saving factory time from Kawi. It cuts power 100% when throttle is closed. When the throttle is opened it’s a direct fuel dump. It designed to save gas
Sagar Sheldekar, a renowned Indian Auto Journalist had the same impression as yours. He claimed that the On and Off throttle transitions were not great and the throttle felt quite snatchy at the beginning and it came as a surprise cause the throttle transition on the previous ZX 6R was one of his favorites. One gripe I personally have is that the ZX6R still doesn't get Ride By Wire which results in the absence of an Auto Blipper.
Its the emissions programming crap. When you reduce throttle it turns the motor OFF. increase throttle motor on. The ECU flash fixes that. Its like a completely different bike after flashing.
I'm laughing with you about the winglets on the black one but honestly they both look cheap compared to what I have on my Ninja 400. I bought mine because they remind me of the ones on the M1000RR which is my dream bike.

Its not that the quickshifter is unreliable, its your using it at the wrong times/rpms. They also dont automatically go to neutral, it wont shift up through neutral when at a stop.

Hiya, just had my ecu flashed on my 23 zx6r, decel fuel cut disabled will correct that throttle. It makes a DRAMATIC difference as well, EVERYTHING is better. I used Moore Mafia, Chris did a great job

I believe I’ve seen videos of you riding these bikes…. So I just bought a 2024 ninja 650 about 2 months ago. I love the bike. Comfortable, doesn’t cost a ton to fill up, and a full tank gets me a lot of riding. My only complaints are how wide the bike is with those front fairings. But now I gotta say, I’ve been bitten by the fast bug lol and I do want a little more speed. I’m considering trading my 650 in for either a 2024 ninja zx6r, or a 2024 gsx8r.i mainly use my bike to go to and from my second job mom-Thursday… it’s about an hour of drive time total there and back home. And then I take it out and just enjoy a quick ride here and there throughout the day or at night. Highway and street. I’ve never been to the track, and plan to just for fun, nothing serious at some point, just to have fun. I’d be using the next bike the same. I wanted your opinion on both bikes and see what you thought I should go for. I like the looks of both the ninja zx6r and gsx8r. I know the ninja is considerably faster, but the gsx8r is considerably heavier. Depending on what my bike is worth and what I can get for it, I know there’s a little over a $2,000 difference in price for those two. But yeah man I’d love to hear back and see what you’d recommend

Adobo! Hey, tell your boy to get that bike tuned. The newer ones are restricted horribly. Get it flashed. What you are feeling is the difference between the ECU going from MAF (Mass Air Flow Sensor) fuel map to TPS fuel map (throttle position sensor) as there are two different maps. It happens around the 4krpm mark, doesnt it? Thats the transition from TPS Map to MAF Map. The air isnt flowing fast enough through the MAF to get a good reading so it relies on the TPS sensor. I can send you my tune that I flashed with FTECU or just the fuel map from my Bazzaz. Once you put a slip-on exhaust on the bike, it screwes with that transition @ circa 4krpm. You have to add like a ridiculous amount of fuel to richen the cell. It looks weird on the computer screen, because youll see a massive amount of fuel being added in the 4krpm @ 30'ish % throttle. I have a 2014, its actually up for sale at the moment. Just as importantly, tell your boy to switch to a 16t/43t sprocket setup (-1/+2). It really wakes that up 636! He will be able to stay with you on your RSV4 till you get into the triple digits. Don't do both of them at the same time, so you can feel the difference each one improves. Oh, lastly, tell your boy to upgrade his throttle tube to an R6 throttle tube. It's an $18 quick throttle without having to buy a $140 Motion Pro Quick Throttle Kit. I put them on all my bikes. It shortens the rotation to go from lock to lock (0% to WOT) If ya need some help, I'm Texas636 on zx6r.com message board

my 2024 zx6r is untuned with an ebay exhaust and does the same “womp womp” with the throttle💀, there are no tuners here in orlando that i know of and i don’t trust the ecu mail flashes so im gonna have to deal with it for a little while

Needs a tune gers rid of it watch moore mafia he talks about what he does to get rid of that on and off Throttle response... got mine tuned plus he put a slip on it running lean too get it tune u won't regret it plus the extra performance....
you cant gp shift and keep the quickshift with the stock sets, its a push only switch. have to get rearsets that reverse the shift on the peg side (woodcraft lightech and i think arashi make some) if you want to keep the stock qs 🫡

Use the modes to your advantage. The bike is just fine for a beginner. Just take your time with it. What color did you get?
Enjoy, practice slow speed maneuvers and progressive braking. It's a great parallel twin. You probably won't need to trade up for a long time.

Just have to let the clutch out to biting point pull back in and it will click into first

Once you tune it that throttle lag thingy will go away. it happens when you go from stock exhaust to a slip on or full system on a stock tune.
It took me ages to get myself to not make my kawisaki buck like a horse with that on off throttle. I still screw it up occasionally.
flashing it will fix that. Easily worth the $400 flash.

That's the infamous Kawasaki throttle fuel cutoff. Can disable it in the ecu but many have said it makes the quickshifter clunky.
The 6R's throttle cable may be too tight. That's why it's on/off.

Bro, I just left the dealer trying to get a 24 krt edition. We were $800 apart so I walked but I'm trading out my aprilia for the zx6r too
I've had my 2024 zx6r as my first bike for 3 weeks now and the quickshifter has been great can confirm
Its measure twice (in his case my advise is measure thrice) cut once, not measure once cut twice.
My ZX6R does the same choppy throttle response…it’s infuriating 😂

you cant gp shift and keep the quickshift with the stock sets, its a push only switch. have to get rearsets that reverse the shift on the peg side (woodcraft lightech and i think arashi make some) if you want to keep the stock qs 🫡
