my first experience with CdS changed the way I saw the Circus. no more animal 'trainers', no more sad elephants being made to parade against their will down hot asphalt pavements, those animals deserve to live better lives than being teased and screamed at by crowds of unruly people. CdS makes absolute Magic using the Human Body, Music, basic props and skills beyond human imagination. the Muscle Men in Saltimbanco , and the flying people in Allegria, Magic Magic.
I felt just like Meryl Streep's expression!!!!
The expressions in their faces is real and fantastic.
The talent of the Cirque Soleil performers puts the talent of any of those stars in the shade

way back when in the 1980's when CdS first hit the scene, they far surpassed the Ringling Brothers. without animals it was possible to mystify and entertain beyond people imaginations. and the ideas of animals 'being made' to work in a circus instead of 'running free as intended' has changed the view of he circus. that's why zoos had to step up and start 'saving endangered species'...that way they didn't look like animal prisons...
Zoos aren't animal prisons. In many ways we'd be worse off without them. As for CdS, they technically have animals. It's just that they all happen to be Costumes or huge puppets or people in face paint.
georgemiser Zoos that keep large animals are prisons. Large animals wander hundreds of miles naturally and zoos can't provide for them. There need to be serious reforms in the regulations regarding what animals zoos can keep and there need to be actual standards set regarding size of habitat per single animal.

Actually saw the Cirque du Soleil Amulana show the day before and was very disappointed. Compared to their other shows its a very weak spectacle. This was one of the best segments however.
I can see a little disappointment on Isabelle Huppert's face bcz she was not nominated for best actress(Elle) nor her film. And even on the red carpet she was not excited... Better luck next time Isabelle. U r the real winner
