  • Is the Hisense L5 a worthy TV replacement? This is a quick review of the 100L5 Hisense Laser TV which is a 100" ultra short throw 4k laser projector (laser tv) that comes bundled with a 100 inch ambient light rejecting screen. It comes in 100" or 120" variants (100L5F and 120L5F)

    Gonna find the Epson ls500 input lag at around 17 which is amazing. I really want to go UST but man the odd placement of the units really make it hard. Ls500 has to sit Soo low from screen let alone out from wall for a 120. Great review as always love the channel keep up the great work.

    I ordered this in April 2021 and it came with a hard, pre-assembled screen. Its performance is pretty horrible compared to the one you had in your review. Luckily, Hisense customer service swapped my screen for the older, soft one, and I am much happier with it now. Just wanted to put that out there for anyone considering this model.

      @@anthonynunez3523 The biggest issue is that it created bright, defined reflections on my ceiling and side wall. Search for the review that was done by Bench House to see what I mean. Also, the viewing angles compared to the soft screen were a lot worse, similar to watching on an VA LCD panel. With the soft screen, the viewing angle is pretty close to 180 degrees. As far as I know, the 120 inch version still comes with the soft screen.

    Tip that *might* cure that lag on the Android TV interface: Go into settings, enable developer options by clicking on build 7 times. Then in dev options scroll down to the drawing section and set Window Animation Scale to off, Transition animation scale to off and Animator duration scale to .5x
    hope it helps.

    This is a single-DLP projector like all all domestic DLP projectors out there. Single-DLP means sequential color, and sequential color means RGB flash artifact (or more popularly known as rainbow effect RBE). ALL single-DLP projectors produce hateful RBE, no matter how fast the lasers flash in sequence or the color filter wheel rotates (this hisense has lasers, I know, and does not have a color wheel; I just mentioned it in the context of sequential color). Reviews about single-DLP projectors should always touch on the extent of RBE if observed, or the ability or inability of reviewer to perceive RBE, which is ALWAYS present.

      Depends on your setup. I have the Samsung 85" QLED and my answer would be yes if it was for a home theater but no for over my fireplace. A 35-inch difference is huge and worth the tradeoff for home theater viewing.

    Is there any reason why most projectors like this one don't have Dolby Vision? I'm curious if there is a legit reason?

    • @TheCHRISCaPWN
      @TheCHRISCaPWN Před 3 lety +2

      Dolby won't approve Dolby Vision on anything that has variables, such as room ambient light levels. The only way DV would show up on a projector is if it is certified sold and installed from a Dolby installer, who could measure every aspect of the room during installation to ensure it meets DV specs, which would most likely put the price outside the range of the majority of consumers.
