Crazy road rage incident in front of cops! - Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada

  • Got in an interesting road rage incident this morning. Was crazy to see the guy come out of his truck right in front of the cops. Cop yelled at him to get back in the truck. Sorry for no audio, the mic in my dashcam is broken :(
To add context: At the very beginning, traffic was backed up in the right lane, but clear in the left lane in front and behind. When I merged to the left, the guy in the truck was speeding from behind so it ended up being closer than I thought and I slightly cut him off. He didn't have to stop, but he did have to slow down from 70kph to 50kph. He honked, but I didn't speed up, so he got pissed and that all happened in front of the cops. I did not get any ticket, so I was let off before I saw the tickets the truck guy got. They were definitely giving him something, they talked to him for so long before letting me off.

Ya I remember that feeling when I was about 10 years old. I was riding my bike with a friend to McDonalds with a pocket full of change. Next thing I knew to teens came after us. I got away my friend didn't and one of them took my friends bike to come after me...I didn't know this had happened until I heard my friends bike coming I thought he got away too. Then I turned to see it was one of the teens. I stopped. He mugged me at knifepoint on a busy street. I saw cops driving up as he had the knife on me. I waved my arms frantically to get their attention. They waved and kept going. I'm lucky I'm not dead thanks to those wonderful officers.

It's amazing how emboldened people get when they are in their cars. I saw a guy pull out of a gas station into oncoming traffic recently, as if they weren't even there, and a suv slammed on the brakes and sounded their horn. They guy who pulled out in front of him, stopped in the middle of the road, flipped him off and opened his door as if to confront the driver. The aggressor was clearly in the wrong and was upset because he was honked at. It honestly saddens me how stupid some of us have become as a species.

There's a long, freshly paved, divided four-lane nearby with almost no traffic that just invites speeding. Anyway, as for road rage, my state has other restraints as well. For example, our castle law greatly reduces road rage confrontations.

@@garfieldsmith332 .. Lol. Speeding on that road is fairly safe. In addition to a widely divided country four-lane, there's adjacent wide ditches and then two-lane utility roads on each side with any houses or businesses well beyond that and normally only a vehicle or two every mile or so. Other than the occasional drunk driver or whatever, there hasn't been a major accident in years. And those drunk drivers usually run off the road, not into another.
They built the road hoping to attract businesses along it (between this town & a popular recreational area), but, due to geography (a large river, limited bridges, another popular freeway leading to the same area, etc), it's not happening (businesses are spreading in the opposite direction). I'm sure the sheriff, who lives along that road, does a little speeding himself. Take care, Mr Smith. Nice talking to you.
