    I'm a trucker and I've had this done to me a few times. These jerks should be arrested and charged to the fullest extent of the law. Lose their license for a couple years and jump through hoops to regain the PRIVILEGE to operate a motor vehicle Just like they do with drivers convicted of DWI. Then they can enjoy riding a bicycle to work or take the bus.

      I don’t understand how can people do that! Is not a regular vehicle, is a semi that can literally turn your vehicle into scrap! I have so much respect for all truck drivers, specially after I almost got run over for trying to “win” at an intersection. After that I learn my lesson and respect you all very much for your job and for doing your best when stupid people like me disrespect you in anyway.

      I imagine that before passing the videographer, this victim trucker probably "cut off" the Jeep driver, in order to pass the videographer's truck! It's just a guess, but I see it happen time after time after time. I travel a several miles of interstate almost every day, with two miles of it, a long, steep, 3 lane mountain climbing road! Each time I ascend this mountain, I find all three lanes blocked by tractor trailers, in spite of the large signs reading: "No Tractor Trailers in Left Lane!" The local small town cops ignore these violations, as well as both the County and State Law Enforcement, as they're profiling travelers seeking to stop those with large sums of cash on board! They of course "confiscate" all large sums of cash, because it "MIGHT BE" meant to purchase illicit drugs, several states south of here!
      I occasionally see southbound cars pulled over, being searched by a Cop from a dead city of only a few hundred people.

      When I was a kid, I was traveling with Mom and sisters in hours of long heavy traffic for a number of trips we had to make - just us girls. Dad did heavy construction work and didn't like us in heavy traffic like that without a man, but he couldn't go for his work schedule., but we has a CB because of his work. One trip we shared some info with some truckers around us, and they really appreciated it, and when I told them the kind of work Dad did was why we helped them, they put us in the saddle out of respect for him. miles on down the rode, a guy came in off one of those axis roads and came right into our slot, Mom had a little trouble making the lateral move into the other lane to get out of the way of our car being clobbered broadside, they acted like they didn't even see. The truckers told us to get behind them for a few minutes and they put him in the cradle and edged him right off to the bar ditch. It was level and he was safe, they didn't try to wreck him - just gave him something to think about. They put us back in the cradle, but they never tried to make any move on us or anything, they just felt like Dad had taught us to respect and help them, and they treated us like they wanted their own family treated if they were on the highway without their own Man around to help them if anything happened.
      Dad was so proud of all his bragging about Truck Drivers and of how we behaved towards them, and how well they looked out for us for his sake, even though they'd never met him.
      He loved it. We did, too.

      Only 1 problem with that solution.......unless the truckers are trying to KILL everyone in the Jeep, whether or not we personally wish it or not< , there IS an EMERGENCY LANE that almost ANY CAR can out accelerate a truck in. Therefore, If the trucker tries to stop the pass, he risks killing all occupants. If the vehicle is not being chased by a COP, then leave them alone and go about your day. Personally, I HAVE passed trucks in the emergency lane cause they were being huge pricks on the highway. A truck(er) should damn well know they back up a 2 mile line of faster moving vehicles cause they wanna pass another big rig doing 2 mph less than them. Taking 10 miles to pass another truck is just IRRESPONSIBLE Driving and STUPID. Be patient, pull over and SHARE the road instead of HOGGING the road. Seen this so many times on I-81 in Va and nearly killed by one asshole that wanted to do 80 in a big rig and couldn't STOP in time for a road emergency. Also on I-95 going thru NC and SC cause it is only 2 lanes there. Time for some Fiscal Funding to widen them roads like Ga and Va have done.

    I had a dude in a Silverado get pissed at me because he thought I was intentionally blocking him from merging onto the interstate. He couldn’t see the car beside me riding about 1/2 up my trailer. The car stayed beside me because I am pretty sure he couldn’t see the ‘Rado trying to merge on the interstate. The idiot merging actually rode beside me for about 1/2 mile in the emergency lane before accelerating and passing me. He then had the nerve to brake check me several times and slow to about 30 mph. I am sure a lot of my fellow drivers are familiar with the area of I-75 S around Perry, GA and just how much time Georgia State Patrol spends sitting on bridges looking for unbelted drivers then calls ahead to awaiting troopers with the vehicle description on who to pull over. Lucky for me, there was one on a bridge ahead of me, doing just that! He saw the entire episode take place. Needless to say, the little truck was pulled over and I hope he got his butt handed to him for being so stupid.

      +Barb Wallace True. In most cases, the idiot drives solo, but consider that sometimes ramming them can cause them to veer into someone else's lane. It's just too risky. Besides, if they didn't hit you, all you lost was a few seconds and a few ounces of fuel that you will burn to make up for braking hard. But in an 18-wheeler, the stakes are higher when someone cuts you off. Not long ago, on a state highway up here, a 16 year old girl cut off a gasolene tanker on a state highway, causing the tanker to flip on a bridge and explode. The bridge had to be replaced at taxpayer's expense. The kid did face arrest, but not much happened. The truck driver narrowly escaped death.

I’ve passed on the shoulder at least 3 times because the dickhead operators think it’s funny to monitor the speed of everyone else. Werner trucks only have signage on the drivers door. When they break the law by blocking lanes they stay in the left lane so the information can’t be reported. Their drive- safe hotline for reporting bad driving has a Maxi Pad wearing clown who’s easily entertained by talking smack on the phone. When you show up at their office they sound different from when they insulted you on the phone. So hello for me.

Then these lunatics pile in trying to play King of the Mountain and don't care at all about anyone or anything else on the road.
    Dad always told me to give the trucks all the room I could, give them as wide a berth as possible, and get out of their way as safely and fast as possible, when time to pass them, get around and out of their way as quickly as I could and give them as wide a lead space as possible before pulling back in front of them, and do not DARE, then get around them just to let off the gas and start going SLOWER than THEY are going.

When you get brake failure is usually hauling a heavy load down a decent hill riding your brakes. The roots is flat here. Even slamming on your brakes isn't going to cause them to heat up enough to fail just due to temperature. How I know is I've been driving for several years already and I am also a certified driving instructor for tractor trailers. For the most part you are right though.

      @EireAnPoblacht Před 7 lety +1

Most states have a bridge law that prevents you from running near Max with your wheels all the way back. Generally, anything close to 80k is more towards the middle, but honestly, it's pretty hard to tell unless you're the one pulling it. Just thought id throw that in...
      Also, IDK what happened here, but my guess is...the Jeep got angry that a big truck passing other big trucks clogged up the passing lane that he wanted to fly down the highway in, and he got pissed. Sadly, Its not uncommon.....2¢ from a Professional driver....🤗

    What we don't know is whether this truck driver cut off that jeep first? Trucks are constantly cutting off left lane vehicles because they want to pass a slower truck in front of them. They cut you off make you slam on the brakes (sometimes almost driving you off the shoulder) and then you have to wait several minutes to pass the truck they are passing that you would have done in 10 seconds. I'm not saying big rig driving is easy, (I've driven bigger trucks shy of big rigs and know its not), and I know it's very helpful when fellow traffic helps them out, but it would be nice if they gave the same courtesy they expect on the road to the smaller, faster vehicles! I have driven across the country more than 15 times each way, I know what I am talking about! This Jeep driver seems to have a beef with the truck....and it very likely occurred before they made it in front of this camera. My guess, that truck previously cut the Jeep off!

    I have a feeling that once companies start putting cameras in more trucks, it will make drivers a lot safer and also result in a lot more crashes at the same time. now that I sometimes drive with a camera, I'll be a lot less likely to slam on brakes when someone does something like this. I'll move over and hit the cruise. if they jerk in front of me and try to make me rear end them - there won't be any "my word against his" and the other guy saying I came up behind him and rammed into him. the video will show what happened. the other driver will be charged for causing the accident and our company will be suing them for scratching our truck. and the other driver might show up to court in a body cast.

    • @jnmaher
      @jnmaher Před 7 lety +11

      He could have waited farther back. Even though nothing happened because of his close range the potential is always there if you're too close. It is a high-risk situation when you choose to be in that position. You are at the mercy of the vehicle in front of you. You don't know what they are thinking, doing, or what they are perceiving. It's a crap shoot when you drive like this and it is the unspoken biggest danger on the roads. Collisions don't just HAPPEN, they occur 98% of the time because one or more drivers refuses to lose a little speed to make a situation safe. When one truck is going 1/2 of a mile per hour faster than another one, and they attempt to pass it, it can be a long drawn out process that really doesn't get them anywhere. Too many drivers (all drivers) refuse to slow down for safety. In this clip all of the trucks are following too close. It isn't that anyone is waiting to pass, it is that they do this constantly. We professionals should know better than to travel any distance in that precarious position.
