Thank you so much for these videos. You're the only one I've found on CZcams doing this kind of quality content for black metal, and I really appreciate it.

I just bought the Neural DSP Petrucci plugin. Mostly for the features like pitch shifting and room mic, but it's surprisingly versatile even for high gain black metal/death metal tones. I realize this sounds like a sales pitch, but I'm genuinely very very happy with it.
Cool, I used to use sims and fractal, they are so convenient. but i wanted to experiment more so now I use a Engl Fireball 100 and mic’d mesa 4x12 v30’s with Lewitt LCT 640 TS and Lewitt MTP 440 DM going through warm audio WA412 preamps into an apollo x6 interface. In the front the Guitar signal is split by a neve RNDI for re-amping if needed. We play a hatred and disgust driven style of black metal In A standard. So i noticed that having things actually mic’d gave a much thicker clearer and present tone straight away than the sims i used to use.
Bought this the other day for iOS/iPadOS. It's pretty great so far. Trying to learn how to best tweak it. Unsure if I should use the lead 1 channel or crunch cranked with a boost...
Love the Audio Assault stuff that I have, but had to download the Lepou and Nick Crowe Labs plugins. Those stood out to my ears. FYI- it seems the Nalex link you provided works, but the link within that page for the amp doesn't work.
A guy did a kemper preset and added all these harmony pedals to the rig, so when you strum a chord, it's like 3 other black metal guitars, doing another harmony. I have never heard a better tone , They have done so much more with the kemper and it's easy to get a good tone with the editor now, there are plenty of pedals now in the kemper that make it easy to get a blacker sound. I really wanted to record some thing and show Simon /every one the power of the kemper for black metal with all the new effects. Maybe Ill try the new backing track in c minor and record something. If anyone has a kemper they have to try this rig, especially because of how he has set the harmony pedal up. The kemper is not cheap, but , NOW with all the new features it's worth it.
@@tobiasheinrich104 Finally someone Bit, the kemper preset is free, its done by Pitchback Studios and is called PB_6505 (its that amp and rips my Nuts off) so much so you could make NU Black metal with this, let's get a different sound bring back the balls of BM, if you can't find it ill send it to you, you will need a kemper
Hey Simon, have you checked out the PROTO 4 amp sim? It's a very solid Mesa Rectifier sim made in a partnership between Ugritone and Vadim Taranov, and it's free. Since you've talked with the Ugritone guys before, you might have also heard that they are working together on some kind of a full amp sim suite.
My opinion is that all of these sound unusable, except the LePou LE456, which is really the only one I would see myself using for black metal. None of the others get even close to the right type of a sound, at least with your settings. However, I don't think that it's a very useful comparison since you used a pretty crappy tone overall. Can't even hear the leads, and treble is where the differences are most clearly heard.
thank you for sharing the settings too! got a nice sound going off your settings.

I liked the LE456 and the Pectifier the most, pretty solid black metal sounds!! Thank you for the share Simon

Might use one of those sometime, thanks!

Authentic black metal sounds, awesome
To be honest, the amp is not the big deal, a good impulse response is responsible about the tone
True story!! Makes much more difference
But they say "turn off the cab" and you get instant Darkthrone guitar sound haha
Completely false. A good ampsim is massively important.

Yep, a solid IR will make a MUCH BIGGER difference in your tone than the amp sim will.
I usually use Audiority Solid State as well. I agree it does the job very well
Great info and demo Simon
Cheers Mike mate!
Maybe I'm weird but I quite liked the solid state!
The Nembrini Audio EN Hardball is the successor to LE456. 🤘🏻 Sick video as always, mate!

Thanx for your work 👍👍👍
nice!!! I m torn but lepou will be my first try
Great!
Thanks !! This is very useful !
Thanks alot!
The Nalex link seems dead, but there are other places to get it thankfully. Others have backed it up.
AHM 5050 sounds massive
Are you recording twice, one for left and one for right? Thanks!
I highly recommend Revalver from peavey and root amps.
its ages old, there are tons of better options currently
I love your videos, but there is never a "link in the description" for any of your videos.
Are you telling me plugging my guitar into the 3.5mm jack on the front of my 1999 pentium III computer and clipping the hell out of it isn't the play?

That definitely sounds very interesting, sample please :)

Hey mate, no I've not seen that but will definitely check it out! Cheers for telling me about it!
they all have this weird mid range phaser sound going through it it doesnt sound raw

What cabinet do you recommend to use with the LePou?
The best amp is "turn of the cab" mode 🫡
God bless the free ones 😄
