+Rakeen it only has to push a 720p display with very little software features and lack of customization. I'll take a 1440p display using split screen watching CZcams and browsing the web at the same time over loading an app 1/2 a second faster any day.
Having more features isn't androids problem... It lags behind in gaming performance cause of super high resolution powered by comparatively weaker GPU. If Games are removed from the list, every android flagship will crush iphone! 🙂

LOL, Nope. iPhone is fastest simply because it is better optimised and has the faster storage than any other phones in the market, full stop. If you look at the test in Lapse It you can clearly see that the 6s is processing the sample video in a much faster rate compared to Moto Z. Google seriously should stop using that stupid JAVA for the Android OS, otherwise it is impossible for it to become faster than iOS...

2048 x 1080 is 2k, 1920 x 1080 is 1080p, and 2560 x 1440 is 1440p, not 2k

Well, iPhone nand memory is way faster than any other smartphone. It is considered similar to an ssd. This is one of the big advantage of opening apps faster. Yes, CPU it is also related to it but nand memory makes more impact on this. Simple, try a computer with hard drive and other with ssd. You will notice a dramatic difference.

It does not have a lot to do with the CPU. This is related to nand memory . iPhones has the fastest storage read and writes period. Do not blame poor optimization or bad porting (although it does affect it somewhat) Try a PC with a hard drive and other with ssd you will see a difference in speed such as night and day.

Before I read the fanboy comments, I'm personally rooting for android, but here are the facts :
1)Resolution has no impact on loading the apps, the memory does, and iPhone uses a faster memory.
2)Resolution has no impact on loading apps from the background, ram does, which means android phones have poor ram management, however, Moto Z is not Samsung and actually had every app open in the background, props to them.
3)Assuming that the resolution had an impact, isn't every android phone user boasting that android phones have better specs(gazillion cores, more ram, etc) ?So if it has better specs, then the resolution should have nothing to do in this competition, since a better processor should eliminate this problem, as well as more ram, right ?
We should look past the brand and the whole iOS vs Android war and face the facts, android phones each year on paper give you more ram, more cores yet still lose to previous gen iphones, with more than twice less ram(in some cases), and twice less cores. Now each phone has it's own OS based around Android, like OxygenOS (OnePlus 3), TouchWiz (Samsung), etc, yet even Samsung being the premium phone which costs almost the same as iPhone still has very poor RAM managment, there's already a Galaxy Note 7 vs iPhone 6s+ speed test out there, which is almost the same as phonebuff's, and guess what ?It still reloads almost every app when multitasking(which means Grace didn't fix the ram managment issue), and even the Exynos version couldn't load apps faster than iphone 6s+.
You partly right, You see, Android and iOS are different types of Phone OS.. one need more power and take a lot of resource (Android) that's why it's taking more memory out of the phone + needs more ram + needs more cpu cores and on the other side iOS is a simple light weight OS wich doesn't need to much ram and memory and resources to work properly
Yet I atend to agree with you there are phones like the samsung's phones wich have a heavy skin of the Android OS wich needs more and more ram every year to work properly and that's why there phones come with bigger amount of ram

Everyone's talking about iOS's optimisation, but no one's mentioned that the iPhone has a sequential read speed much greater than any Android currently available.
They both have a key part, I'm not upgrading from my Rooted galaxy s5 until I see the perfect android. So far it's the One Plus 3 for me but I'm going to wait another year.

I do not play games or make time lapse videos on my phone. So, for my use, Moto Z is as fast as iPhone 6S. Conclusion: I can get a fast phone, full of the newest tecnologies with more open and custumized OS, for a much fair price.

Please don't comment about resolution, the iPhone even rendered the video much faster and that has nothing to do with the phone's resolution. I have a gs7 edge and a 6s plus and the iPhone is just faster/smoother. Yeah the s7 is a better phone with better camera/display and has a much better design IMO but this is a speed test and there's no beating the iPhone at that.

I'd like to drop my two cents in and say that I am 100% sure the guys who made the video didn't turn off the background features of the Moto Z. That phone is simultaneously listening for "Ok Google", a twist, a chop, or a wave over the screen. Not to mention if there are other things on which I am unaware of.
These kinds of test are really misleading. Of course iPhone wins, because it is running iOS. Apple only has to make an operating system for like, 6 phones. Android runs on literally hundreds of devices. Obviously it will be less optimized. Not to mention Apple has had an entire decade to perfect their software AND hardware (A chipsets). If you factor all these in, the iPhone is an obvious winner in sheer speed, but at the end of the day, it's the usability and experience which matters and for both devices it's great.
You need to run two separate laps,instead of combined two laps, first for the opening app and wait for the other to complete and other lap just to check the multitasking, as you used to do earlier.
Definitely if a smartphone is having a lead in the first round and in this you are going to mix it's timing with multitasking round, for sure it's having the upper hand to win.

The thing is, the Android apps in the background are actually running gaining load as you open more and more apps, whereas the iOS apps are merely frozen not really functioning. Hence why it will always be harder for Android to compete in these tests with the 1 at a time task handling of iOS. Also, NVMe storage on the iPhone is superior to UFS2.
iphone is more optimized, but try another kind of test that uses more used apps like intagram snapchat facebook mesenger contacts calculator clock calendar ...
