- Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell is described as being “critical but stable” in hospital.
He was shot multiple times as he packed footballs into his car after coaching children at an Omagh sports centre last night.
His young son was with him.
Condemnation of the shooting came swiftly from religious and political leaders in the UK and Ireland.

maybe this cop was a child molester? i'm only speculating, but this was clearly done out of vengeance, this shooting seems VERY personal .. nobody does this by random or to terrorize the public or police.
i said this in other comments too, there was this old american police reality show (cops or 911) where a cop was gunned down in middle of a busy street like a dog, he emptied his entire clip into his face, but later it turned out that this cop was actually a child molester, they found his VHS tapes where he recorded himself doing things to kids. and shooter was father of one of those kids.

Will Omagh ever get their peace. Omagh holds a special place in my heart. I used to go there visiting my Grandparents, aunt, uncles and cousins. I have fond memories of the town. I hope he makes a full recovery and his son will not be traumatised in years to come. What a horrible thing to go through and witness. For all the kids.
