- Newsreel scenes from Messter Woche (1916), probably taken by American cinematographer Nelson E. Edwards, showing a visit by General Field Marshal von Mackensen to Constantinopel (Istanbul) in March 1916. Copied for research purposes from the files of the German Federal Archives (Bundesarchiv).

I love both countries

How to be manly:
1- Be August von Mackensen
2- ????
3- Profit!
HOW BIG WAS HE HE WAS MASIVE
@@rainerhutter553 you missed a step, grow epic facial hair. tragically I am, still attempting to achieve his level of mustache
Best German general of the war
Interesting 😍
Did you notice that he always carried the marshal's staff? It shows white on the film like a rolled up piece of paper. I think it must have been king's blue, a light kind of blue and ornated with gold and silver. Something like that. It is so white, it may have been so shiny, the film could only register it as white.
'Feld' stands for 'field'.
Why isn't his biography in english.
Because he was german?
Good stuff. I approve
I wonder in which language the Turks and Germans communicate. I would bet on French since it was known by the elites of both countries then. Has anyone an idea?
@JulesRouleau Merci, très intéressant!
This was the Age of Funny Hats
I have never see this footage from Constantinople. There's some interesting film of Mackensen sitting to the left of Hitler in the 1936 Berlin Olympics when a California woman attempted to kiss the Fuhrer.czcams.com/video/lzkSyya3EKs/video.html

Hala constantinapol diyor herifler biz o ismin üzerine çizigi 1453 te attık hoca istanbul orası şu an ve dünyanin en güzel şehirlerinden biri
Istanbul not constantinople
