      Yup non of these are perfect (really no test is unless you die and we remove your body fat and see...) But it is a good place to get a reading you can work with. Thanks for watching and commenting :)

      @Manny91 Yeah mine says something like 11.6% and I definitely have a good amount of flab on me, if I compare myself to some bodybuilders who use the scale, I somehow have less body fat is what it say

    So true man, these scales should just be used for a general weigh in. I'm 90kg 186cm. I'm like you I'm BMI 26.. (classed as overweight). I've had multiple Dexa scans over the years. My results have varied from 14% down to 8.9% at 8.9% I had around 7.7kgs of body fat. At 14% i was holding 12.8kgs of body fat. Looking in the mirror knowing what my body fat is with the scans I've had at various stages of body composition, I can now look in the mirror and guess with a good degree of accuracy what my body fat % is.. based on skin fold thickness and abb visibility...
    My advice would be if you really want to know, get a dexa scan at the start of your journey and then repeat halfway to your goal, and get the final one once you've reached your desired weight. making a mental note (or photos) at each stage of what your body looks like in the mirror.

    Really good review, thank you. Also what I really like about this scale was a screen, that is bright and shows a lot, compared to various cheap Xiaomi scales which shows only height unless you connect it to your device. However, it's been some time since you did it, and I just came here by accident, so could you suggest anything for people in 2021 or later, which scale is way better than this, maybe to track body fat, or sync or anything, if you did a video on that, can you share it?

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  Před 2 lety +1

      I personally use the RENPHO Bluetooth scale right now. I'll be making an updated review of it soon but I have a 1 year one I made as well. I no longer have this particular scale.

    How is the BFP reading over time? I understand from your review that it's inaccurate, but does it stay consistent at least?

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  Před 6 lety +2

      Yeah, it is pretty consistent. I started using it as a baseline and measuring the BF% from that. While it may be a bit high, you can still use it this way to see if you are making some progress. BF% is always going to be a bit off with the top-of-the-line equipment, but use it as a baseline and track it that way.

    • @whoacarh
      @whoacarh Před 6 lety +2

      In the setup, what did you put yourself at? Male, or athletic male? This seems to affect the bodyfat % and the athletic setting seems to drop body fat % down by about 4% for men and women from what I've researched. If you set it at Male and normally get 18 or 19%, try setting it to athletic male and see if it give you the 12 or 13% body fat you believe yourself to actually be at.

    I know this is an old video but still wanted to say thanks I've heard that these scales can be inaccurate but I didn't realize how off they can be when it comes to body fat % I'm 5'10 down from 246 to 176 & my body fat reading comes in somewhere between 18.6-19.1% I still have another 15lbs or so that I want to lose & get down to around 14% body fat but this gave me hope that maybe I'm closer than I've been led to believe I feel like I look closer to what google images show 15-16% looks like so it would make sense

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  Před rokem +1

      While BF% is a metric the fitness industry loves to throw around, I find it pointless. Even if you are a bodybuilder, what your BF% is doesn't really matter. It really comes down to your structure (build) and symmetry. From there, just get to a leanness you like and can support long-term. This basically means a place where you aren't starving all year round, and still have the strength to workout.

    • @GamerBody

      Yup! It has a setting called "Weight Unit" where you can change to the following:
      kg
      lb
      st
      st + lb
      For height, this is setup per person you add to the device. You can choose inches or cm for the type of measurement you need. This is only shown in the settings of the user, but it is needed to set up the rest of the calculations. I hope this helps :)

    Do you understand that you don't have to just have body fat on your stomach. You could have most of your fat on your legs and then your abs look good as hell. It's just different for each person. Not hating just saying that your abs are the only place where body fat is. Good video though

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  Před 6 lety +1

      Yup, I completely agree. However, I still don't see that as the case as my legs and other sections of my body are rather lean. Unfortunately, BF% is really tough to gauge with today's equipment, and even the best scans (DEXA scans) are prone to error. I just recently got a new scale and testing it out (the new one syncs wirelessly to my Fitbit app which is nice.
