Schnauzers are the best.. weve had 5 so far (1 standard, 1 mini, 3 giants).. amazing breed so intelligent, loyal, loving breed. 💖💖💖 Ty is a beautiful example of the breed

My Giant Schnauzer, Duncan is the love of my life :-) everywhere we take him they think he is some sort of doodle because he still has the puppy cut. He is only 10 and a half months old. He looks like a big Shaggy black sheep dog. Full of energy and full of love 😊💕 I am absolutely in love with this dog and this breed. But you must be willing to put in the time and effort!

Cropping ears aren’t necessary anymore at Crufts, however the breed standard at Westminster is cropped ears and tails, Btw Giant Schnauzers have very long tails and having them cropped keeps them from plowing over everything in your house. I understand why it’s not really needed. It is up to the owner.

Yes, my Molly flew from CA to MI to me several years ago and was one of Sylvia’s (Skansen Kennels) kitchen dogs...she keeps several in her home and Molly was outstanding in so many ways. Her history is on Utube. Well worth the $$, excellent breed. 🐕🦺
How does she have nothing to say about owning one? Probably because she handles him and doesn't own him? Well I have one and I will tell you they are strong, dominant, protective but also extremely sensitive and loving. You need to put in the time to train them though or else you will have a tough dog that is prone to scrapping it out on your hands.

You’re right. The giant is a working breed and people gotta really out the work into it. I’m hoping one day to own one, when the time is right. In the meantime, I have my mini. She’s a stubborn but loving girl

Excellent breed of dog, but certainly not right for a first time dog owner or for one who was unknowledgeable about serious dogs.
Im thinking of getting a schnauzer, but I need to find some one who will cut off part of its ears, lobe off its tail, and while Im at it have one leg removed just for good measure. Then , and only then , I think it will look how I want it to. Who needs mother nature?

Poodles are the ONLY breed that absolutely doesn't shed, besides there are more dogs there besides Schnauzers. I have participated in shows for a long time, there is tons of hair & poop everywhere.
My giant schnauzer does not shed at all... I call bs
I have owned many Giants, they are a double coated breed - they shed their undercoat. Maybe they shed less than other breeds, but they do shed. Standard poodles also shed, not sure about the smaller ones. The only 2 breeds I ever met that shed almost no hair/fur were the portuguese water dog and the kerry blue terrier. No coincidence since these are single coated breeds. Single coated breeds without an undercoat shed less than double coated breeds.
Schnauzers do shed, but it is very minimal, and they are considered hypoallergenic. But some of the other dogs do. I have showed my giant for a while. As far as the poop, they don’t poop in the ring. Or they are not supposed to. Most dogs don’t poop in the ring because it is carpet, but I used to practice showing my Mini schnauzer, and she peed in the ring during practice. Luckily it was outside.
@anon e muss Yeah - if you read my comment I say they may shed less than some other breeds but they still do shed. They shed throughout their lives, not just when their skirts are growing. I have owned Giants from the U.S. with American-style softer coats and Giants from Germany and Giants from the Czech Republic with a more wiry coat. Both kinds of coats shed plenty - not as much as a Shepherd, but much more than someone would think if you tell them the Giant is a low shedding breed. They may be a lower shedding breed, but there's still plenty of vacuuming to do in the house.

How is this a working dog show when there is no task except to run in round field.
‘Working group’ actually. The dogs do work in other trials, this is conformation so they do standing round and looking good.
These judges get to feel important for about 30 minutes out of their otherwise boring, nobody lives. The handler of the winer has the personality of a dial tone. She needs to let the dog's personality rub off on her.
