  • Polaris Ranger Crew Northstar keeps getting a check engine light and goes into limp mode. Will a tune from Gilomen Innovations fix the problem? Is tuning worth the money? How fast will it make the Ranger? Ranger Crew Northstar Performance. Ranger Northstar top speed. Ranger Northstar acceleration.

    After watching this, I think I’ll be going with a Gilomen tune. 3second 0-60 improvement is huge.

    I just had my primary fragment and take out my secondary and both inner and outer housings. It's worth doing periodic inspection of the sheaves on your primary. 3300km 2019 northstar crew.

    Great information, I purchased a 2021 Ranger Northstar ultimate, no issues yet , just a couple questions from a real world driver , hows the engagement ? Smooth or jerky , how does the clutch kit work on the trails and did the ECM get rid of all your codes ?

    • @DustinFaddis
      @DustinFaddis  Před 3 lety +1

      Congrats on your purchase. I think the clutch actually engages smoother than it did stock. That’s when you’re just cruising. If you hammer it then it bites pretty hard so I wouldn’t advise doing that on a road or concrete 😆 I feel that eventually it will find a weak point. Hopefully just a belt. I’ve learned it helps to keep it in low if I’m climbing over rocks or going slow. I don’t smell the belt burning. On trails, if I’m going over about 8mph I’m in high. The best part is I haven’t had a code since and no starting issues. The ecm really wakes this thing up. I wish I would have gotten this right away. I kept my stock computer just in case I have to take it in.

    Hey man, what’s your top speed? I’m getting a crew in the next few months when it comes in but I just sold a regular cab that would run 82 with 30” terrabites on it. I know the crew won’t run that fast but I’m curious to know what the top speed is. Also, with the performance spring, did it not seem like it ran too high of RPM all the time? When I got my kit in for the regular cab I just sold, I used the mid range just because it didn’t scream as much at lower speeds. Thanks for the video man! Looking forward to hearing back from you

    • @DustinFaddis
      @DustinFaddis  Před 2 lety

      I’ve had it up to 75 I think it could have maybe gone faster but I ran out of smooth road. I think the rpm runs a little higher but nothing that concerns me. I think it keeps the clutch from slipping. Before I did this, it would eat belts. Thanks for watching Justin. Congrats on the crew. I love the extra space it provides.

    • @DustinFaddis
      @DustinFaddis  Před 2 lety +2

      We picked up the highlifter 3” lift. It’s simple and goes on in your garage in about an hour. The ride hasn’t changed much. We get so much out of it. The clearance helps so much off-road here in Alaska. It’s way too long to be that low

    Did this help with the awful clunk i hear when first hitting the gas?

    • @DustinFaddis
      @DustinFaddis  Před 2 lety +2

      It definitely did. It’s the new clutch spring that helps that. It just engages smoother with that plus the tune. We’re very happy with it now.

    Have you ever had issues with the HVAC flooding when crossing deeper water?

    • @DustinFaddis
      @DustinFaddis  Před 3 lety +2

      Good question… I was really concerned about that when I first started going through deep water. I haven’t had an issue yet. So far it’s been a great machine. After many deep water crossings and really deep mud, the A/C and heater both still work great.

      @@DustinFaddis Good to hear! I’m picking up my Northstar this week after ordering in March. No one has been able to answer the above question, until now. It seems folks outside of Alaska don’t risk anything deeper than a puddle. If only they knew what we put these machines through up here!

    • @DustinFaddis
      @DustinFaddis  Před 3 lety +2

      @@mawelge I spend good money on this machine. I plan to push it to its limits. Without abusing it of course. I take care of my vehicles and won’t do anything to intentionally damage it. I’d be really upset if driving it through some deep water damaged it. I would also let everyone know if it broke down doing something as simple as a River crossing.

    • @DustinFaddis
      @DustinFaddis  Před 3 lety +1

      @@mawelge I’ve gone through River crossings where the water came up over the hood which I wouldn’t recommend because that’s where the intake is on the northstar. It just barely came above the hood because of momentum through the River. I didn’t stall out or have any issues.

    Does this upgrade void your warranty ?

    • @DustinFaddis
      @DustinFaddis  Před 3 lety +2

      Great question Greg… so I went into my local dealer and asked because it’s ultimately up to them. They said the entire warranty would stay intact with the exception of odd issues with the clutch and belt. Also if there was an issue with the computer that I replaced it wouldn’t cover that. That’s a pretty sensible trade off of you ask me. So we just went for it. Thanks for watching and commenting. We appreciate it.
