Just a quick tip for working with EVA foam. If you want to make the surface not look like foam, just cover it with a few coats of regular wood glue (PVA glue) and it will looks smoother and more shiny.
+bummer6 Yes! And also, he really should have just spray painted the yellow sections before applying the foam. Other than that (and my nitpicking about how the electronics were done) this build looks pretty dang good.

i dont usually watch DIYPS, but i had to check out this build! HUGE fan of the metroid series, and the execution of this build was great! you gotta finish the rest of the suit now, though...

Begs the question of how accurate its gonna be, also which suit that that arm cannon is gonna go with.. There might have to be a vote to decide that. xD
Cool build! But for all the guys here, you do want to put some solder on the tip of the iron first. It's called tinning.

Awesome work as always. Vinny seems to be the most logical and practical of the gang. That being said, I always cringe when the paint job is an afterthought. A bad paint job can tarnish a great build.

this is probably one of the better prop builds I've seen on this channel.
That was an excellent Fox McCloud costume in the picture of your old Samus arm canon.
Tip for people who don't want to get into soldering - if you buy male & female "Crimp Connectors", you can just basically plug the different connections together, and you're able to reuse all of the wiring components for later projects if need be

Actually inspired. Thinking with my version, might add strips of yellow LEDS instead of the paint in the channels, and hooking the whole thing up to a micro controller so the lights grow brighter and cycle faster the longer you hold down the button, until it's "charged", then when you release everything has a final bright flash and resets

Glad you used the Prime version rather than go for the most recent version. The Other M cannon looks weak, too narrow and short. The Prime version reflects the kind of power it packs.
Fantastic work, Vinny! The design and color of the cannon are spot on. I hope you end up building the costume in the future. Would make for a great multi-episode build.

Honestly I think it would be easier as a DIY prop shop build as it does require electronic lighting which has been done before on the circular layered glass part.

Definitely one of the better builds. The gun seems a bit large at first but when you consider how much bulk Samus's armor adds it actually kinda makes sense to be that big.

when soldering you should put a tiny bit of solder on the iron it helps heat the wire up and you should also tin the wire

All good till the brush painted yellow, looked messy as hell and it's a real pity you didn't spray it and keep it all neat, could have demonstrated a simple bit of masking wit either low tack tape or making a masking template
shredBucketheadshred yeah I would have taped and sprayed/air brushed(possibly) much better results. And I use an hvlp set up daily, so I think I'd know
