Tensions flare in the near future aboard the International Space Station as a worldwide conflict breaks out on Earth. Always has to be some action bs. Can't they make a serious movie in space for once? Without explosions, fire, violence and weapons, you know typical Hollywood stuff? How hard can it be to make another movie like Space Odyssey? Even interstellar had to put in action scenes to get the public entertained...

What you're describing is a documentary. These are entertainment.

@@Tanfo77 Not really. Many good movies have no action scenes, it's just that lately it seems producers have given up on depth.

Those days are now decades past. If you haven't already you can watch "Oxygen". It's recent sci-fi that I can remember from top of my head that fits the requirements somewhat. "The Martian" also fits the bill but I am sure you must have watched it.
