  • THIS is how I was able to get my motorized kayak registered legally to attach a trolling motor to it. It is the Ascend 133X, but can apply to any kayak. I was able to get this done with no original title, no original Statement of Origin, all you need it a bill of sale and this.

    Was this from the site? I went to the owner manual on the site and it didn't have it. It was only 2 pages long. Where'd you go?

      @RandomJ2023  Před rokem +1

      Updated reply: Yes the main site only has the 2 page one. This is the link to the full manual It is the 2nd to last page. If they ask, make sure they know the owners manual comes just as it is, no information filled out. You put the information on it (serial # etc.)
      Hopefully this will work for you! Keep me posted and thanks for the question!

    What if it has already been registered?

    • @RandomJ2023
      @RandomJ2023  Před 4 měsíci

      If it has already been registered then there is a title out there somewhere for it, if you have the title it needs to be signed and title transferred like any other vessel.

    Ate you still out there? Have a question. Citrus County said I had to have a bill of sale from the original owner. Kayak manufacturer sent me an MSO, I have a bill of sale from the guy I bought it from, he bought from someone who bought it from someone
    County said they want bill of sale from 1st owner. What County you in? Might have to try there. Thanks

    • @RandomJ2023
      @RandomJ2023  Před 20 dny

      Yes I am still here. I am in Indian River County. Not sure why they would say that unless one of the previous owners had it titled. Does it have numbers on it? If it does, that means one of the previous owners did not get it registered to them.
      If not, then there really should be no reason why they would need an original bill of sale if you already have one. Some of them are clueless, try talking to another agent maybe.

      @@RandomJ2023 Thanks for getting back with me. It’s a Jackson Cuda, Jackson sent me the MSO, I have a bill of sale from the guy I bought it from. He bought it used. I went to the two different offices here in Citrus County, each person who I went to had to ask the supervisor. I was told each time that I needed to produce all bills of sale from the 1st sale to the last. That’s an impossible task. I believe they are wrong, so yeah will probably head to Pasco County to see what they say.

      @@andrewtpetersen honestly, that indeed sounds BS. That's very weird to say the least. Unless the county has additional rules, I do not know what regulation he is citing. Search for what is needed to register a motorized kayak and I have never heard of "Original Bill of Sale".
      But, I think you forgot that your uncle had sold it to you way back on "insert date here" and you finally found the original bill of sale 🤣.

      @RandomJ2023  Před 20 dny

      @@andrewtpetersen on a serious note though, ask them for what they are citing because that is a first I heard of that ridiculous rule also.

      @@RandomJ2023 Yeah, after the 2nd visit it was better for me, and the county that I went to lunch. I going to go with a misinterpretation of some regulation, for sure there would be no changing their minds. I doubt that they pulled it out of thin air, read something somewhere that they thought meant X. I figured if I was going to waste time I’d try it in another county. Although, I asked Jackson if they had record of the original sale. If not then I am free to “find” that original bill of sale, might even “find” a number more just for fun. Produce an entire chain of custody. Perhaps then they will see just how ridiculous the request was.

    The state makes it impossible! Dealer of purchase claims to help, but doesn’t come though. Going to make a 3.5 hr drive early in the day and try to get it registered in the dealers area! I’m done buying anything used unless the seller has EVERYTHING in order. Kayaks are a huge pain in the ass and have no idea why… Buyers beware!

      Have you tried searching for an owner's manual for yours? That is where I found the Certificate of Origin. Literally just printed it out. In my case the owners manual/ Certificate are mass produced and not specific to any single model. Hope this helps.
