  • This is a simple modification I did to my earthway seeder. It involves a 3in PVC end cap, a quarter inch bolt and wingnut. Watch the video for more details. And let me know what you think....

    I would try putting a light spring on the bolt between the cap and wing nut. It will avoid the need to keep perfect adjustment on the wing nut.

    Hey.Sorry about your grandfather. Called about the seeder. Modified mine with the peanut butter lid idea backed with a wide jar lid. Seems tighter. Have to wait and see. Thanks.

    something i do is sprinkle some graphite or talc powder on the back of the seed plate for lubrication it makes a huge difference

    I have one but upgraded to the hoss collection. Still have my earthway. Have all the seed plates and also have the fertilizer attachment for it too.

    Earthway should take notes to your improvement! Reminds me like the hoss setup!

    Hey, add a spring and washer behind the wing nut, that way it’s not torqued down too much. (I wrote this before the video finished so never mind if you did that 🤣)

    Great modification Jonathan. Wondering if you have tried planting snap peas with it and how that went.

      I just planted a double row of sugar snap peas. It went super smooth, and they all germinated! I love this tool

      @@Pynefurnishings Nicely done! I am going to follow your steps and set myself up for right for pea planting round two. Will update :-)

    How did the mod end up working out when you used it to plant the smaller seeds?

    • @Pynefurnishings
      @Pynefurnishings  Před 3 lety +1

      It did very well! I still plant pelleted carrots by hand, just because it does still crush them a bit. But for less than $10, it's a great little mod! I recommend it

    Have you planted onion seeds with it yet?

    • @Pynefurnishings
      @Pynefurnishings  Před 2 lety

      I haven’t tried it yet. I normally will start mine in a big tray, and then transplant them in to the ground when I get about 4 to 5 inches high

    How come you or nobody else for that matter has come on here to tell of their success or failure of doing this?

      It worked really well last year. The only issue is that it’s a little tricky changing the plates out. Other than that I highly recommend

      This modification has worked well for me for the past several years. Glad someone came up with the idea. Have two of these planters, so seldom change seed plates. The one with the smaller seed plates is the original push planter,the one with the larger seed plate is setup to mount on the back of a garden tractor.
