  • In this video we wrap up our Greenland series by jumping back aboard Norsaq, Air Greenland’s venerable A330. We’re back on the flight deck as we take off from a sunny Kangerlussuaq (SFJ), making a 180-degree turn over the Søndre Strømfjord and then climbing as we head east over the ice cap. That gives us a great chance to soak up more incredible views of Greenland, for the last time on this visit. We then step back into a business class seat to check out Air Greenland’s onboard offering and have lunch, for a mini-review of the A330 business class. Finally it’s back into the cockpit for landing into Copenhagen (CPH) just as night falls. Enjoy the magical night-time flight deck ambiance and a smooth landing back in Denmark. (Recorded in September 2021.)

    During takeoff the pilot said “Im going to keep it on the centerline, it looks better on video” 😂

    Hello Gabriel thanks for the series. It was brilliant. I had the pleasure of visiting Algeria before covid and I think it would make a great flight series. Continue the great work and thanks to air Greenland staff . Stay safe everyone and happy travels.

    Thanks Gabriel for that trip. Last time I was in Germany, flew through Copenhagen Airport and took several a pics of that Air Greenland A330-200 while we were taxiing. I immediately knew it was Air Greenland from seeing images of it before with it's distinct red and dot infused tail. Nice to hear they will be getting a new A330 soon.

    Hi Gabriel. Thanks so much for the trip. Was very enjoyable. The new aircraft that have no "Stick" in the cockpit is a little jarring. (how do they steer the plane?? DOH) It was great to see Greenland in the spotlight to see what can be done there. Welcome home.

    • @gogabego
      @gogabego Před 2 lety

      Thanks Jeremy! As for the steering, it’s interesting, when I tried the side stick in a simulator it felt very natural very quickly. Airbus pilots have often said the same to me. Even steering with your non-dominant hand.

      You're thinking of a Yoke. You can't see it in this video very well, but on the side of each pilot, they have a Sidestick. It's basically a video game joystick. Also, this aircraft and the use of a Sidestick instead of a Yoke is not "new" at all. It's been in use for decades.

      @jeremy1350 Před 2 lety

      @@elliott7268 Hello. Thanks for the reply. You can tell the last time I was in an aircraft then, ha ha. I've seen in many cockpit videos that there was no yoke, but could not see the apparent side stick. Gabriel told me of his experience with the side stick. That question has been in my mind for a while. I did not think to ponder that there was a control, nor where it was, from my point of view.

    • @elliott7268
      @elliott7268 Před 2 lety +1

      @@jeremy1350 it is hard to see from these cockpit videos. If you see a cockpit that doesn't have a Yoke, it's most definitely an Airbus plane whereas if it has a Yoke it's a Boeing plane. This video is filmed by a hand held camera. Pretty limited view of the instruments. Theres CZcams channels that film full cockpit videos with multiple camera angles. Much easier to see the Sidestick. Go on the Just Planes or Air Clips CZcams channels and watch one of the Airbus videos and you'll see the Sidestick. I've got hundreds of hours in the Airbus A320 which uses a Sidestick and I love it. As Gabriel says, it feels super natural and I love the extra space you get where the yoke usually is. We even get a table in the place of the Yoke. No more eating meals and doing paperwork on your lap!

    Wonder why the instrument screens flicker in first part of this video. Are they using a different refresh rate to previous videos or is it the video FPS?
