  • Steve Frame (George Reinholt) and Alice Matthews (Jacqueline Courtney) were one of the most popular couples in soap opera history. They first met at Walter Curtin and Lenore Moore's wedding reception in July 1968.

    What a treat to see the beginning of the Alice/Steve/Rachel triangle! Jacqueline Courtney's Alice and Robin Strasser's Rachel were perfect foils! Rachel was so reminiscent of ATWT's Lisa--marrying a doctor from a respectable family, falling for an even wealthier man, and having conflicts with her sister-in-law

    • @woohooboy
      @woohooboy Před 5 lety +4

      Lisa on "ATWT" was the original scheming minx. Rachel on "AW" would continue in the same vein and Erica on "AMC" would carry the torch onwards......

    This is actually a truly historic meeting. Alice-Steve-Rachel propel the show to record ratings for the next seven years. Only when the idiot producers decide to kill off the very popular (but difficult) Reinholt(Steve)in the winter of 1975 then go on to replace the unreplacable Jackie Courtney a few months later do they begin to understand the power of these popular actors.

    R.I.P. to George Reinholt August 22, 1940 - November 11, 2013. So sad that Another World fired him, Virginia Dwyer, and Jacqueline Courtney instead of firing Harding Lemay and Paul Rauch. He was one of Daytime's top 10 soap actors. His pressence will be missed.

    • @a.b.s_productions
      @a.b.s_productions Před 9 lety +2

      @laminage Před 6 lety +2

      Yeah, boy did he have it rough after he got Fired. Briefly reunited with Jacqueline Courtney on One Life To Live then he got fired. Rented out his Home in Pennsylvania, PA., converted his Garage into an Apt for himself, spent his life savings taking care of his Parents. He also became an Alcoholic and also had an alleged secret that he was Gay. If he had lived and saw how much Society has accepted it, he would be dumbfounded. On Three UK Soap Operas, Emmerdale, Coronation St., and Hollyoaks there are Gay/Lesbian Characters and they are as popular as their Straight Counterparts.

      @@a.b.s_productions Not true. Reinholt was known to cause problems on the set, but never Courtney. She was fired because Pete Lemay took an irrational and personal dislike of her and strove for her dismissal.

    I still remember the episode where Rachel announced that her child's father was Steve, not that of her husband--Russ Matthews. The really wicked party of it was that she did it in front of everyone in Bay City....at Steve and Alice's engagement party.
    I didn't see this episode because my grandmother normally watched CBS shows when this was on, but her friends started talking about this "brazen hussy" on Another World. My grandmother checked it out, and was hooked.
    When Rachel left for Somerset--the town and the soap opera (how's THAT for a throwback memory?), Bubbe went back to Guiding Light, I think that was when the male version of Rachel, Roger Thorpe, started stirring up trouble in Springfield, so she got even more of a character she loved to hate with him. Only time I ever saw her throw anything at a TV screen was over Roger, LOL.

    I'm trying to find more info about George Reinholt, and would appreciate anyone who can point me in the right direction. His exit from Another World, arguably just as his popularity was soaring, ix well documented, and in an interview he talks about his ego and temper sidelining his career which essentially ended with his exit from One Life to Live after just 2 seasons. He gave acting lessons to small groups, and was invited to a couple reunion shows. And his furious denial that an ad he placed in a Philly paper offering to accompany ladies to social events as their 'escort' was not sex for hire. He did appear on Broadway and DC theaters as well. But nothing about any training he received, his first real break, or how he supported himself after the 1970's He was supposedly working on his memoirs when he died in 2013. His on screen appearance and charisma is evident. For someone as talented with stunning sex appeal, why did he never break back in? I'm on a project for a friend and the smallest detail to fill out his life would be welcomed!

    Give Agnes Nixon her props Were it not for her Another World may have been cancelled. The Alice/Steve/Rachel Love Triangle was the most popular Storyline in it's 35 Year History. When the Show got cancelled in 1999 it was on George Michael's 36 Birthday and Ten Years Later Michael Jackson would die and in the 1980's during the Thriller Era his Music was played on Another World as well as other Soaps from Al My Children and Guiding Light. This Year Coronation Street celebrates it's 60th Anniversary in The UK and their beginnings were so different from The US. The "Men" are just as powerful as their US Counterparts. Sadly enough Two who worked on US Soaps found out there was a major difference. Daran Little who wrote For All My Children and The Young & The Restless discovered that, who is a Legend writing for Coronation Street and EastEnders (currently). Mal Young who was the Bill Bell Of The UK (who also Co Created Another World) who tanked on The Young & The Restless.
