One thing people often don't think about: Sunglasses and sunscreen! The sun can still be bright even if it's cold out, and if there's snow on the ground the sunlight can reflect off of it and you get twice as much. So protect your eyes and skin (also make sure your sunscreen doesn't freeze, or use a sunscreen stick).

Friday, February 16th: Almost everything is fixable; time, money, and effort will fix many difficulties. Experience is difficult to share; each of us has to gather their own. HYOH. Thanks for sharing. Always interesting to see how other hikers prepare. Happy Trails! Ross08

Love it...but please tell, what pack was being used in the shots where snowshoes are attached to the back...and how were they attached? Searching for the best way to take snowshoes when they are no needed till later in the hike!(was looking at that fab Waymark Mile for this use but GGG suggested not the best pack for attaching snow shoes). So I will have to find another excuse to get me a Waymark Mile!

I don’t recall the model but it’s a Dakine snowboard backpack!
