- I take an ancestral technique to the extreme to obtain an incredible result.
Through this video we can see the great resistance of the wood as well as the hidden beauty of Douglas fir wood.
It is in my carpentry workshop that I film my work in order to share my ideas with you in a calm and relaxing ASMR atmosphere without words or music.
If you carry out this type of project it is imperative to take measures to prevent the risks linked to fire.

That is stunning! I always did like the burnt technique you used in your previous pieces. This highlights perfectly how interesting the Douglas fir grain is. I love this! ❤
Thank you very much Lynn❤️🌸
What surprises me each time is the extreme resistance of the wood when you know that my flame heats up to 3000 degrees Celsius...
When you started I thought " Oh no, the rings are going the wrong way!" Shows what I know. Beautiful x
Thank you Tina❤️❤️
Ooooo, asking: what's he gonna do to it? Iz NO indication that one might kno.🤷♀️ Nope.
Outstanding piece. Crisp 😂, mellow, sturdy, decorative, round, grained, polished, poetic and gorgeous.
Cannot beat thaT. 😊🎉🎉🎉❤ ty🎶👍
Nina❤️❤️
Bigs thanks for your great comment 🌸
Absolutely beautiful. I love how you used this technique to highlight the hard and softwood tree rings. Wonderful 😊
thank you so much for your comment😉
Thank you for another intensely beautiful piece. It looks alive. I could stare at it for hours. I love the fire/torch technique; gives it a primitive yet also a modern look.

Big thanks for your comment 😊🌸
Really creative piece, very nicely done. That’s a lot of smoke and ash to deal with! Stay safe.
Thank you so much Dtork😉👍👍
First, let me say that I love the addition of the comments throughout the video! I bet this is hard work! A wonderful piece! Who would have thought that wood is so resilient!😊❤. I love the reds/ golds this pulled out! You are very talented!!😊❤
Hi Racheal
Thank you for your comment, I'm glad you appreciate the addition of comments 😉
It's true that the contrast is incredible in orange and black, it creates a supernatural effect in addition to the texture.
I have been watching your videos for years. I always enjoy them and i've always admired your work. This finished piece is as fine a thing as i've ever seen. The geometricity of the concentric circles - coupled with the magnificent organic structure and cracking... it is a masterpiece. I think this is the one piece i would choose if i somehow got a Breizh Art genie wish! Well done, indeed!
thank you very much I’m very happy that you appreciate my work 😊👍👍👍👍
Damn, does that mean I have to join a queue?
Another stunning creation!!😊

I’m often not a fan of the burn technique but this really is quite nice. Unique

Hi Morgan thanks for a magnificent video and all your hard work. This is an extraordinary masterpiece well done. Amanda xx
Hi Amanda ❤️
Thank you so much for your comment I’m very flattered 😊🌸
Amazing as always!
For some reason I now have a craving for a spiral cut ham….🤔
😆
I've done the same thing with the softer bits and a rotary tool. So rewarding!!
thank you very much Jay 😉certain types of wood lend themselves more easily to this technique and the finish will depend on the type of wire brush used
I have just discovered your channel and I am blown away by your talent. This is a truly beautiful piece of art. Thank you for sharing.
Patricia
thank you very much I’m very happy that you appreciate my work 😊🌸
Welcome to my channel 😉
Very unique piece. I love how the unburnt grain looks like it is a burning ember. Well done Morgan
thank you Mike😉
That is f-ing wild. Looks like burnt rolled up paper. Amazing work.

That was different, nicely different. I thought it could be an alien's egg, but no, it was another superb work of art from Morgan. I've been a bit rough recently, but hoping it has eased off. Well done Morgan, regards to you and family 👍
Hello The pagan
Thank you for your comment👍
It’s been a while since we’ve seen you, I hope things are going well for you 😉
Morgan… I LIKE it!
Thank you Sassa😊🌸
Now that is a very creative and unique result Morgan! I wonder what sand blasting would do versus using a stiff brush? And maybe some color (dye/stain)? 😊
Thanks Todd😉👍
with this type of wood, sandblasting is not regular and the result is average; however, the addition of a stain is possible and would even offer a beautiful effect
spectacular!
Thank you so much for your comment 😉
extraordinary
Thank you so much 😊
Superbe pièce Comme d’habitude Marc Super Beau.. ton ami Marc et merci d’avoir ajouté un peu plus de temps sur vos podcast

HI BAW I not seen that done on a bowl before. weldon. thanks for shearing.
Hi Manjitsingh
thank you very much I’m very happy that you appreciate my work 😊👍👍👍
Morgan. Magnificent. There was no hyperbole in this video title. Extreme and extraordinary. Exactly.
Have you ever tried sandblasting wood Morgan?
Though a Gardener by trade, in my present incarnation I sandblast and paint ships. We often sandblast parts on pallets and the sandblasting wears away the softer wood and leaves the grain looking somewhat like this. I have bought several pallets home and one day will use the boards to make furniture.
Once again, Thank you for sparking joy in my heart. Joel.
Thank you Joel 😉
yes I have already sandblasting bowls and it turns out to be interesting if the wood is well chosen
It makes me smile that you have thought to sand blast wood. It means you have seen something which I found fascinating and inspiring even though we are a world apart. @@bawbreizhartwood
That’s beautiful! How did your shop smell during this process?
john
It smelled like a pleasant fir tree 😉
Красота ❤
😊🌸
Yum! cinnamon rolls
Thanks Edith 🌸
Good❤❤
Thank you Raghbirsingh❤️❤️❤️
I would prefer the natural look, without the scorching, myself . But, different strokes for different folks😊
Yvonne
Thank you so much for your comment 😉
Beautiful. Does it make a good noise when tapped?
Thank you😉Yes it is OK👍
Morgan what do you call this burning proses? I know it starts with an S. Gorgeous piece
Daisy
It's a Japanese technique called shou sugi ban😉
Yum... Cinnamon roll
😉👍
Looks like ancient artifact
Thank you so much for your comment 😉👍
I love that look. Shou sugi ban technique i believe it's called.
Donald😉
Yes, that's right, it's an ancestral Japanese technique used to make wood more resistant and today also used to create decorative effects.
@@bawbreizhartwood I love the effect. I have used this technique on some birdhouses I made.
What would that look like with a votive burning inside? Please show! It almost seems like the layers would hold together and there’s just air between the folds of char. Like it’s made of phyllo dough like some exotic wood baklava.
Anika
thank you very much I’m very happy that you appreciate my work 😊
♥️♥️♥️
😊
👏👏👏👍
Thanks Juan😉
Any possibility you could try turning it with the stuff wire brush after charing it?
yes it is possible but I find that the result is better with the rotation stopped because this allows you to better control the direction of brushing
Esperimento riuscito !!!
Thank you so much 😉👍👍
Anyone else think this was a cooking video when they first saw the thumbnail?
🤔
When it first appeared on my feed it looked kinda like a cinnamon roll or pastry of some sort 🤷♂️😂
I love the end look of the wood though! Beautiful! 👌
Reminds me of a roasted onion.
😳😄
It looks like a breakfast pastry. Or an insect. Both? Neither? 🤷♂️
🤔
I like the look but I would never buy it because I wouldn't want to have to keep it clean. Keep the look but fill in the texture so there's no place for dust to collect and I could see it on my shelf
Thank you for your comment😉it's precisely the texture that is interesting on this piece and filling it with resin would be a waste.
To keep it clean I suggest putting it in a display case or dusting it regularly.
If you spend more time carving and such than you do turning. It no longer a turning... its a carving.
this work is part of the preparation, it is not sculpture 😉
Stunning 😍 Can l buy one?
Hi Mark
thank you very much for your comment I am very happy that you like this piece 😊👍
I will soon put it for sale on my site but if you wish you can also send me an e-mail to obtain it directly
