- Welcome to my first playthrough of Baldur's Gate 3! I am entirely new to Baldur's Gate and Dungeons & Dragons, so I'm excited to explore all that Larian Studios has created and to hear advice from you all! Follow along as we try to cure ourselves of the parasite and make chaotic decisions along the way.

One of the best tactics for this part is to run back up the stairs. I position the other 2 party members at the top of the stairs. Give some misty step scrolls to shadowheart and the main character so they can get up the stairs quickly. Then at the intersection cast a spell like insect plague(or something similar), and wall of fire on the stairs. That will kill off about 80% of the enemies before they get to you. Cast globe of invulnerability if you want extra defense. It’s also smart to equip shadowheart with the daylight spell if they cast darkness. It’s a great tactic and on honor mode this method is a life saver.
IMHO you chose the right ending here. Both possible outcomes are heartbreaking, but I feel that this was the best one and it ends the plot of wicked Shar.
I am BEGGING you to do a dark urge run!! It can get a bit repetitive especially if you’ve done the every quest but the story for the main character is SOOOOO WORTH IT!! (this is totally up to you obviously but dark urge and astarian have such a cool relationship if you romance him…..)

Congratulations on making it through the fight! Now that you did it, I hope you don't mind a few more tips. The game is very forgiving regarding builds and such, but once you start reaching these harder fights in Act 3 on Tactician, wearing better armor would make the harder fights a lot less frustrating than what you experienced here and with Cazador.
This fight is heavy on physical attacks, and your characters were getting hit way more often than they should, plus these were your squishiest party members so they died quick. Karlach raging and Lae'zel in heavy armor would be a lot more durable in this battle, even when infected with Bone Chill so you can't heal them. But also it seemed like Shadowheart's a Life Cleric, right? She should be wearing heavy armor (probably Armour of Persistence), and could have an AC of about 23 by now, which not only keeps her alive but also helps keep her concentration spells up. Unfortunately, none of the druid wildshape forms have good AC, so you'll want to make sure your human form has good medium armor as a backup (you might already--I couldn't tell what you were wearing). Is anyone wearing the Armour of Agility or Unwanted Masterwork Scalemail? That would be really good for Astarion and Karlach, and could go to your druid if they don't need it.
Better armor will improve your quality of life for the rest of the game, but as an extra bit of help for this fight specifically, warlocks with Devil's Sight can see through magical darkness without being blinded, and there are three pieces of equipment that can do the same--Eversight Ring, Helldusk Helmet, and Steelwatcher Helmet. If one or two party members, or all of them, can see in the dark, then this group of enemies loses their only real advantage. That's overkill, but it would let you run this fight with a less optimized party.
In my first playthrough I used divine intervention, it was so clutch I use the damage version, and on the next turn I was able to use it again
It killed must of the ennemies and on the second time all my party was fully healed like in a long rest
Having watched Java's playthrough from the beginning, with so many great reactions and analysis, this stream was peak "I'm over this game!" It's a shame it had to happen at the end of one of the best companion stories of the game; would have liked to have seen a similar level of investment in Shadowheart's story as we saw from Java for Astarion. Still looking forward to seeing Java wrap up the game!
I haven't watched the playthrough. Is it because Act 3 is less good than the others?
let shadowheart herself decide save her parents or not can have a different outcome if you help her regain some past memories. since no hints ot clues are given on how to do that, a lot of people don't know about this.
One thing I always is that your character feels like a waste of potencial, don't get me wrong howlbear form is great but you also have 15+ spellslots that you never take advantage of🤷♂️
I don't think there is a necklace for +1 divine intervention charges. There is one for +1 Channel Divinity Charges.
no no no you cab throw anything on it as long as it is something that is expensive in my playthrough I throw a lot of diamonds and rings and plates that if I sold I would get 10000 gold
There is no correct ending for the "good" ending, the ending you picked is perfectly fine. I've done both "better" endings for her and I prefer letting her make the choice.

You made the right choice, don't worry. Too many players belittle what the curse means for Shadowheart and why her parents are willing to sacrifice themselves to free her of Shar's taint forever. I'm glad you didn't let your chatters talk you down or out of it. Massive amounts of respect for standing on business with your choice and keeping it, I've seen way too many streamers back down just because of the mob turning against them, and they reverse course on their own interpretation just because chat yells at them.
I agree with the second part since it isn't cool to peer pressure people but the curse is definitely something that can be dealt with. Some people have the fair misconception that the wound also grants Shar ownership of shadows soul but it doesn't. Shar also stops caring in the epilogue and there are a ton of things in dnd that could remove the mark altogether. Honestly the biggest reason to sacrifice the parents beyond it being their wish is because the mom has dementia and maybe 10-15 years left in her with good care and because dad is a full elf and will outlive her by centuries and will probably outlive shadowheart as well if nothing happens.
@@calvintyler9281 Commenters here will also conflate "chat disagrees with streamer" to become "chat is pressuring and bullying streamer to comply with their wishes". Java and Java's chat (largely) happen to have a lot of mutual respect for each other, and a lot of any perceived friction is springing both from chat's love of the game as well as their appreciation and investment for the streamer playing that game.
