Your channel is one of my favorites for lens reviews. Thank you. From your reviews (and others), I did buy the Sigma 18-55mm for my Fuji XT4. Then I bought the Sigma 50mm, and I’m impressed. And now I’ve ordered the Sigma 10-18mm, and waiting…. Without your channel, I probably wouldn’t have even given Sigma a shot. 😊

Not a fair comparison in my opinion. Well, I guess it's one way to make the brand new Sigma lens shine. No doubt it is excellent but it would have been more helpful to see it up against the Tamron 11-20mm f2.8 and the much newer Sony 10-20mm f4.0.

Stopped down, the Sony is a solid lens. It does have some limitations, but for the longest time this was your only choice in a super wide zoom on e mount.
The purple fringing is a little annoying but can be taken out in post. If buying brand new I would go for the sigma, but being I already have this lens and know how to work around its' weaknesses, it's worth keeping to me and spending my money on other lenses that expand my range. Just picked up the tamron 70-180 2.8. LOVE. Next on my list a fixed superwide. Any way great comparison review really enjoyed watching.

I own a 10-20 which behaves exactly as described by lenstip : super even across the focal range and the frame with max sharpness already wide open. Unless you have a bad copy, I don't believe that there is room at all for "hands down" improvement, especially when reviews report not so impressive homogeneity across the frame for the Sigma. I love my Sigma lenses (18-50 and 30) but this "hands down" statements is onvioulsy bold and I wouldn't give any confidence to the comment. That beeing said, the Sigma is way better at f/2.8, obviously.

one really important thing is: The 10-18 OSS is the ONLY wide angle zoom OSS lens. which, in the video world is a deal breaker. Some some videographer will really appreciate it when it comes to handheld shooting, and there is no replacement for it. yes, some sony body have ibis, but it doesn't means ibis will do everything for you. And some legacy cinema cameras don't have ibis. They really need a new wide angle zoom with oss, Sony PLEASE.😢

Surely a good one: compact, quite sharp, f/2.8, and not last, the attractive price, matter. The likely choice if not having any superwide zoom in the shelf already.
But if one already owns the old Sony 10-18 4.0 OSS and a not stabilized body like the a6400, the old Sony still makes sense. Even if the Sigma brings a better optical performance, under normal circumstances and not going too far into low light or strong backlight, the picture quality of the old Sony is still quite decent.
I don't understand why Sony did not introduce the newer lens with f/2.8 instead of a f/4.0 again. The impact of a wider aperture to allow for lower ISO is critical, specially for APS-C.

Thing is, we all have different uses and priorities.
For me, I'd almost always be shooting this at f8 and above, usually on a tripod.
2.8 would push up the cost, size and weight all for something I'd rarely benefit from. If they wanted to make an f8 that was even cheaper, smaller and lighter - I'd sign up 😂

Actually the sigma can too, see Mark Bennet's camera crisis channel for a review that talks about it. Sure the oss is important if you don't already have it in the camera, but, as Arthur said, that's the only point in its favour, and if we're talking about full frame most bodies already have ibis. Finally f4 in Tokyo at night is fine in certain areas, and if it's f4 on full frame, where iso 12800 is still usable... I was in Yokohama, around its famous port, with an 2.8, and I had to go to very slow shutter speeds or crank up the iso, honestly with an f4 there, I would have just go back to my hotel

HI ARTHUR , DO YOU EXPERIENCE EXCESSIVE EYE STRAIN AFTER USING SONY A7IV ? MANY OF MY COLLEAGUES AND CLIENTS HAVE SAID THAT THEY EXPERIENCE A LOT OF EYE STRAIN AFTER USING OR WATCHING VIDEOS SHOT WITH CAMERAS LIKE A7IV, A7C,etc. THEY ALSO COMPLAIN ABOUT SWOLLEN AND PUFFY EYES DUE TO THE EYE STRAIN CAUSED BY THESE CAMERAS. ANY SIMILAR EXPERIENCE? CAN SONY ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM IF IT EXISTS?

Sony need to sort out their quality control, it's unacceptable to charge the prices they charge and produce sloppy goods.

The difference is microcontrast. Sony has more than Sigma. You can see more depth information in Sony

I don't understand why you're comparing the older Sony when you've already have reviewed the new Sony lens.

it's a paid ad. This is how the manufacturer wants it not to be compared to Tamron 11-20mm or Sony 10-20. I'm wodering why?!
