if you're ever struggling with a toy decap again, a trick a lot of doll customizers use is running hot water around the neck or using a hair dryer around the neck to warm and soften the plastic! they generally do it to avoid damaging the neck peg, but it definitely makes the job easier too! i've only done one custom, but i do have fond memories of pulling the heads off barbies as a child, and the heat definitely makes it easier.

A tip for helping steady your hands that tabletop mini painters use to reduce shaky hands is to wrap a rubberband or two around their wrist, put some twists in them, then hook the rubberbands about halfway along their pinkie (Sometimes also ring) finger!

Decapitating rubber/plastic toys is easier with the help of a dunking in some hot water. Look up doll repainting and you'll see it as one of the first steps

not to Backseat Model Build but the finished palette will pop more if you pre shade with a very dark purple or blue rather than black. makes a surprisingly big difference

the blood on the alien completely reminds me of my brief “terrorise the baby brother” era as a kid. i drew blood on a buzz lightyear toy and told him it was haunted and he got so scared of it, our mom banished it to our patio and let nature take care of it - which did make it worse and scarier BUT, I like to think this is was a failed first attempt at uh… toy customization instead of sibling terror. might give this piece a go one of these days bc of that memory and also it looks like a great place to start!

Very cool! On the Futurama show they had Richard Nixons' head on a gundam robot body stomping on the little people. Not only would it be a great build, but also a commentary on our US government today. LOL!
