This one always makes me sad 😂. I had the internet in 1995, and from then until tristar released it in the US it was always “Destroyer”. I guess when they widely released it they wanted something easier to trademark. Still my favorite Godzilla film of all time.
I can't count how many times I've watched the individual episodes of this Monster Madness in particular. This series revived my love for Godzilla and kaijus! I binged all of the movies after watching it, and went on to other giant monsters!
I remember the only way to watch them was on his website. None of it was on YT.
As a kid who felt completely alone in being a Godzilla fan, this series was really special to me.

As a godzilla fan, it does suck seeing people argue between minus one and the Monster verse. It's like: "Guys come on, us Monster fans are eating good rn, let's not quarrel over such minor issues"

Dude. These videos were literally my introduction to being a Godzilla fan. They were concise, fun, and Informative. Seeing all of these put into a big compilation is very heartwarming, so thanks for that1
I was watching these on sat mornings in the late 70s, early 80s, until they stopped with the Creature Feature show here in SWFL(WTOG Tampa). You had to have a serious antenna to pick it up. Fortunately my grandparents had cable, so I would stay there on the weekends so I could watch my monster movies, hosted by Dr Paul Bearer (get it lol).

16 years ago I was a kid in elementary school when Godzilla was a dead franchise. I was the only kid who seemed to know about Godzilla among all of my classmates. These videos were so much fun to watch every day after school. The glory days.
I was 14 when GodzillaThon originally happened. I thank you so much for the knowledge you shared, I was always a fan of the character but you made my love for the series so much more enriched and I thank you for that. I love the early Cinnemassacre days. Nostalgia at its finest

This series is the sole reason why I am such a huge fan of Godzilla today. I just love hearing how passionate someone can be for a certain movie series or anything really. It got me so interested that I learned all the lore, watched all the movies, the series, even played some of the games. Thank you for exposing me to such a staple in the world of movies.
The irony is that Godzilla is currently reaching his peak with the success of Legendary’s Monsterverse and the absolute triumph that was Godzilla: Minus One. PSA - go and see Godzilla: Minus One: Minus Color when it comes out near you

These reviews not only made me aware of additional Godzilla movies I hadn't seen, it made me realize there were others out there that loved the big guy as much as me.
Fun fact about that pagoda Godzilla falls into when he trips.

When my daughter was born, my ex-wife didn't work. On the nights I had to get up early for work, she took care of the night baby stuff. These movies where the dads are forced to get up in the middle of the night, when the wife doesn't work, fuck that shit.

Rewatching all these clips after watching Godzilla Minus One just shows how far Godzilla has come. Minus One is a masterpiece

Predictions: we never did get that 40 minute IMAX movie, probably for the best. And we did finally get a new Godzilla vs Kong, which honestly, NONE of us thought we would ever see in a million years. 😂Still waiting on Godzilla meeting Gamera though...

Wish I could go back in time to tell James of the impending Godzilla renaissance
This original Monster Madness is what got me back into Godzilla and made me a Cinemassacre fan. I should note that the "millenium series" of Godzilla Toho movies aside from the one direct sequel were basically a bunch of standalone stories which freed up any need to continuity between the movies.
An absolute classic
It was crazy to hear James say that it’s been 10 years since Godzilla 1998 came out. That was 25 years ago.
I remember watching GodzillaThon so many times back then. This series was one of the videos that helped me to understand more about Godzilla in the early days of me being a Godzilla fan. So much nostalgia.
Also loved when he says "DESTOROYAH!!!"
This actually got me back into Godzilla as an adult.

This entire retrospective was one of my big introductions to the Godzilla franchise, probably one of the best overviews of the series up until final wars, although I wouldn’t mind an updated version including the legendary films, shin Godzilla and -1.0
Here we are in 2023 and Toho has once again shown Hollywood how it’s done with minus one. These are great videos. Thanks.

1:26:28 - Boy, was this a foreshadow for things to come! Who woulda thought the guy who directed "Always 2" would go on to direct "Godzilla: Minus One?" It's so surreal watching this part 15 years later. "Godzillathon" is what reignited my interest in Godzilla (It also introduced me to James, AVGN, and Cinemassacre as a whole, and I've been a fan of Cinemassacre ever since), so seeing this re-upload of the entire review series the same year as the release of "Minus One" is both nostalgic and cathartic for me. In a way, it's like my experience as a G-fan has come full circle.

1:26:30 speaking of Always: Sunset on Third Street, the director Takashi Yamazaki just recently directed the new Godzilla movie Godzilla Minus One (which is taking the world by storm right now).
I would highly recommend watching, it’s already become one of my all time favourite Godzilla movie.

This series of videos got me into Godzilla movies. And I can’t appreciate them enough for it
as a kid i loved these videos but i’d love to see james do another monster madness including some of the new era films. I feel as if there was more he could’ve covered or things he genuinely didn’t catch or missed in some of these films- like zero mention of akane in GxMG, the reason godzilla is even there in GMK, etc. Still a blast from the past to rewatch these videos 🙏🏽

I think out of all of the Monster Madness videos, the Godzillathon videos are my favorite, because I’ve always been really interested in Godzilla, and was glad to see videos that went in depth on the movies

I watch Cinemassacre all year long. But during Halloween it's a must. Watched this. Then the universal monster madness. Then, on Halloween itself, the 4-part epic Castlevania saga. It's my tradition every year.
these videos were the ones that introduced me to more of the Godzilla monsters, and thanks to that I ended up going out and watching some of the movies in the years following

Love rewatching these. I remember the mid 80’s to mid 90’s when it was hard to acquire a lot of these. There was a market stall in a flea market in New Jersey I’d visit and my parents would let me get one bootleg hesei tape was time. I got to see Destroyer, Mothra, and MechaGodzilla before tristar released them here. Glad we’re in another golden ages of Godzilla with new films ever few years.

These reviews were the reason I marathonned every film in the franchise, just in time for Godzilla Kong of the Monsters. It was a trip but it was so worth it, it made the new film that much more worth it.
