    Well by the logic of the last sentence, if Diane is still a teacher and should be reported, Diance said that she is a teacher then, Katie's feeling for Thomas could still be well intact and shouldn't be altered in anyway by using "liked" instead of "like". Does anyone feel what I am saying?

      Yes! I should have noted this in the video. If the statement is still true (e.g. a fact or an opinion), it's OK to keep it in the present tense. That's a great question.

    what happens to "tonight" does that change in the reported speech sentence?

    • @TeacherDianeESL
      @TeacherDianeESL  Před 3 lety

      It depends when you are reporting the speech.
      For example:
      Direct speech:
      8am ---- Sam said, "Bob will visit me tonight."
      Reported speech:
      10am --- Sam said that Bob will visit him tonight.
      The next day/week/month --- Sam said that Bob would visit him that night.
      I hope that helps!
