    This was invaluable information. I took on the project of installing 12" bars on my 22 Ultra Limited. This video was step by step and saved me a ton of time. There are some wiring differences with the Ultra, and heated grips. Some plugs are the same so take pictures before you disconnect. Going just 2" taller than stock, I was able to reroute the clutch and brake lines and did not need the clutch cable extension. Over 2" would need either the clutch extension, or a longer cable and a longer brake line. Thanks for putting this video together, it was a great help.

    Love the video have the same bike little tip. Remove the clutch cable from the clip inside the fairing and run it to the left said. No need for the extension. And when reinstalling tighten the 2 top bolts on the bracket for the handle bar clamps snug the bottom put the fairing back together electrical and all and you can set your bars with the fairing back on and using a ball end Allen key you can tighten the bottom bolts to spec and lock them where you want them.

    Excellent video sir! '22 Street Glide Special here as well. Also in Utah (Eagle Mountain to boot). 😊❓Question: The one part of the video you didn't show is when you remount the fairing/console over both the clutch line and brake line...I'm having a hell of a time determining the positioning of where the cables should be (and I've gone back and researched/watched the video several times. Since I have 12's now I had to remove this plastic sheathe that was there.

    Excellent video, thanks for sharing! Question: I had a Harley dealer install 12" bars (Factory 47) on a 2021 SGS (I bought it out of state). They said they had to run a new clutch cable (full length). The cable they installed was too long and is coiled up in the fairing and sticks - found out when I got home. I want to replace the full length clutch cable with a single good quality cable. What is the new length I should buy? I looked and found inconsistent data on stock length. I measured with a string, best I could and found 74-76" to be the new length, but that is much longer than what Magnum says is stock +4. Magnum say it should be 70". I have a 70" cable and it looks too short when holding it up. I would like to only buy 1 cable if possible. Thanks in advance.

    nice job! I’m installing KST Patriot 12” bars. They are 1 1/2 “ thick and I’m having a problem fitting the fairing over them without grinding the lower part of the inner fairing. Now it looks like the ignition cover needs trimming too. Maybe I bought the wrong bars! If you could please share with me your thoughts!

    • @RideitWrenchit
      @RideitWrenchit  Před rokem

      Those 1 1/2" are going to be an issue with the fairing and ignition cover. The only thought I have is make sure the clutch and brake lines are secured to the bottom of the bars where they enter into the fairing area. There is a gap under the bars where the inner fairing and ignition cover come together that works well for routing those lines. This will create quite a bit more space around the rest of the handlebar to possibly accommodate the larger diameter without having to cut.

    • @RideitWrenchit
      @RideitWrenchit  Před 2 lety

      I finally cut it off carefully with a utility knife. It caused issues with getting the fairing to seat properly because of the larger diameter of the handlebars. You can then zip tie the clutch line in place to the riser bolt as was done at the factory.

    ‘M going to do the same Yaffe 12” bars on my 22’ SGS. How long did it take to install the handlebar upgrade? My dealer is telling 6hrs, I’ve been told it should take 4hrs max Thanks!

      It took a lot longer because of recording the process and recording in detail the prepping and wiring video. If it wasn't for creating the content I could do it in about 3-4 hours.

    I did 12" KST bars on my 2021 UL (Street Glide) & no extensions were needed. The Clutch cable is a bit tight but not enough to pay for extenders.

      Did you run the wire differently then stock? I’ve tried everything and I had to order the fat baggers extension.

      Me too. Used KST 12 inch no extensions.

      @@eddiesextoniii2845 Sorry for delay. You just cut the tie downs under the fairing and move them around.

      Harley offers a clutch cable for touring models with sidecar. It’s +4” and typically half the price of the regular one. At least it was on my 2008. They won’t tell you that though.
