I love the Baltic peoples (too bad Prussians are gone) - to me they somehow embody a deep and ancient "Europeanness" of dignity and pride, though with sorrow woven into them; a melancholic nobility, with them having endured in spite of all the yokes they had to bear, holding on to their beautiful and unique culture (especially their languages and music). So keep on all you Baltic sons and daughters - Europe wouldn't be the same without you!
As the linguist Antoine Meillet once said: "anyone wishing to hear how Indo-Europeans spoke should come and listen to a Lithuanian peasant", although that's right for latvians too. The baltic cultures and languages are the least mutated in Europe and also the last to be christianised. No wonder their music feel so ancient :)
