Driven Wild Boar Hunting Techniques at Müller Shooting Cinema

- Ian Harford and Team Wild TV are in Germany ahead of Ian’s upcoming epic wild boar hunting adventure. We're joined by Frederic Hanner from Sauer who show Ian the techniques required to successfully shoot driven wild boar.

The shooting cinema at the Müller Schießzentrum in Ulm offers the opportunity to practice shooting a number of static and moving targets, simulating real life hunting situations.
Wild boar hunting is a very technical sport, it's not just about pulling the trigger. There's a technique that you need to go through to be really effective. There are different points where you can hit a wild boar to bring them down humanely.
With wild boar you have different points where you should target. The obvious place is the nervous system. However, that is very difficult when the wild boar are running at a pace.
Fredrick recommends per 10 metres of distance that you're shooting roughly give it 10 centimetres of lead. It’s best practice to aim where the wild boar will be running and not where it is.
Equipped with the Sauer 404 Synchro XTC in 308 topped with the Hawke Vantage 1x4 by 24, Ian and Frederic head down to the shooting cinema for their first wild boar shooting practice session.
Ian begins by trying his hand at static targets. Using the techniques learnt from Frederic, Ian is able to successfully hit the targets. Ian moves onto air balloon targets that move in an upward motion. to simulate the upwards movement when targetting wild boar.
Ian progressed onto moving wild boar targets. This offers a different type of challenge as each scenario brings a different situation. As the training continues, the level of difficulty is increased.
Ian’s final round is shooting wild boar targets going downhill. This is a particularly difficult shooting style. Ian is able to put all shooting techniques he has learnt into practice and successfully hits a number of the targets.
As the day comes to a close Ian and Frederic are ready and excited for the following day where they will head into the field to try their hand at wild boar hunting.

That looks like a lot of fun. Our local range has something like this but the screens are for individual lanes and only about 1/2 meter wide. Looking forward to seeing Ian and Frederic on the hunt in the upcoming video.
Next time I'll follow that swing rule for sure ,,,now I shoot 7 boars out of ten but I want all tens ..thanks master 👍🙏🇮🇳 (don't be shocked of seeing Indian national flag ,now we can easily get 🐗 hunting permit for 3 months in punjab for the winter season coz this is non breeding time ) happy aiming 🔫🔜

It also shows what training is required is not what most people are told or think.
There is this strange idea that you can just head out to a driven day and because you shoot a rifle once or twice a year on static deer whilst out stalking, you know what your doing.
So kudos on showing the training from static targets and the balloons which is aimed at getting people in the frame of mind to both move and aim off etc.
