The Burnout series definitely needs a comeback tbh.
Yeah... But not by EA, but by Criterion themselves. If they'd get enough money or something to just make it to push them back in the action...
Also your nickname :'c
Burnout Still Cancelled Soz
Just as much as Midnight Club.
@@goodkeks-950 And its on the Epic Store so i am never buying it

Imagine if "Shiny red car" was the name they went with
Shiny red car: point of impact
Shiny red car: Takedown
Shiny red car : revenge
Shiny red car: paradise
By looking at the video. The "Shiny Red car" is Either a Honda Del Sol or a Subaru Impreza 22B with a GTR R34 front Bumper.
@@ziqrsx Never seen a Subaru Impreza that isn't blue with yellow rims tho

I own every Burnout game on the PS2, Burnout 3 is always my favourite one out of all of them
My favourite is Burnout Revenge, because it's the first one I played and it lets you check traffic in certain modes!
Revenge is my favourite
@@Cyberbrickmaster1986 u can check traffic in all modes
Revenge is such a disappointment. So Is paradise. After 3 is when the series went downhill but it's an unpopular opinion
@@01Zipang Disagree, 3 is in my view is overrated and I realise that is an unpopular opinion as well.
I think a Konami arcade game called "Thrill Drive" was another big inspiration for the games. But the latter's presentation and atmosphere is much darker. It really wants to make you feel bad for crashing.
I think Burnout 3: Takedown tried to pay homage to that with darker sfx-ambience after you crashed on beta version. Would be interesting if they keep it in on final version
I liked this one, but 2 is where the series really took off. Crash Mode is one of the greatest things ever put into a game.
About the handling, I played the PS2 version and my memory may be fuzzy but I remember the controls being pretty tight. You could easily pull off long power slides that were so precise you could still dodge traffic while doing them. I may be getting it confused with 2 though.
power slide?... ah ok im dumb
Here's hoping for a Burnout 3, Burnout Dominator, and Burnout Paradise review. Those were the ones I played
DJ Cogdill I loved burnout dominator even though how underrated it was.
@@brazen.2664 The main thing I remember about it was that it was really difficult
I used to play it on my PSP! :)
Dennis Asuncion My guy!
Da1BRazen Thanks!
The glitches may be due to playing the game on a XB 360. Apparently its very common.
He literally said that in the video
No shit, Sherlock.
The Xbox 360 was retro compatible ? Burnout is only available on the original Xbox
Burnout copied a lot from the Konami game, Thrill Drive.
But its still my favourite Burnout game, because of how difficult it is, and giving the option to drive a bus or tow truck in a race.
ColorShedProductions wonders why anyone would want to drive them, I say for the challenge, and its not something you get to see much in races, driving a big vehicle in a race.
Burnout was pretty much just a RenderWare tech demo. Point of Impact is where the series actually begins and starts implementing staple features.
A tech demo released after GTA 3 witch put the engine at the limit .
But yeah it's acurate .
If you looked closely, Burnout was quite ahead of its time
Not even close. Midnight Club and Gran Turismo 3 had already been out for months. Dave Mirra 2 had just come out. This game was a buggy piece of shit when it came out and it's a buggy piece of shit now.
cominroitover80 well said fellow CZcams commenter. I’m not hating but I support the truth.
SaggyHUGGIES123 well it had features like turn signals which a lot of racing games did not have
@@basithph8958 bro having turning signals doesn't mean it's "quite ahead of it's time". The entire game is extremely bland and boring, and apart from the graphics, it has nothing that makes it stand out or makes superior than other racing games of it's time. Plus, the graphics aren't that superior either.
@@stagnantsmokemusic The crashes hadn't been done before, neither had a game with so much emphasis in street racing while dodging traffic.
my humble sugestion; if you will do a review series of burnout, play all the games on any console (or emulator) but xbox360
Nah, the 360 has the best version of Revenge.
When it comes to Burnout Revenge though, the Xbox 360 has the best version.
Burnout 3 play on the 360 and Revenge goes very well tbh
You need to avoid the old ones on the 360 due to those bugs
@@julianbelkan2384 Burnout 3 on the 360 crashes towards the end of the career for me
Burnout 2 on xbox 360 is okay, just lags horribly during rain or snow segments. And the sun and moon are square.
oh boy you'll see a HUGE H U G E improvement with burnout 2 I'll wait for the review
Where it all started..
One of my favorite racing game series
I loved Burnout, if you picked manual the cars had a higher top speed and better acceleration
I used the music in this game as a blueprint for a class in my college course. If you look up the OST for this game you'll see that there are some unused tracks I believe that were based in Tokyo? I really would love to see how those tracks were meant to turn out but at least we have the music for them to listen to. That horrible looping of the sounds must've really taken away from your experience I imagine. I played it on PS2 when i was a lot younger then Gamecube where I eventually completed the game in a little over 2 hours. It's kinda a big part of my childhood along with Need For Speed Underground.
That nostalgia hit me like a truck in the first second of the video
The only thing I really remember about playing this game is the guy shouting „CHECKPOINT!“ every single time. It was a fun little game. Nothing compared to the later games of course.
Bro I love this game, i still play this original. The more intense music that plays halfway through the race always gets my heart rate going. I never got that audio glitch, maybe because I have the PS2 version.
Edit: my brother bought our copy of the game in Spain so everything on it is written in Spanish including the rating, which is labelled 'TP'. If anyone knows what it means can you help me because where I live we have the Pegi age rating
Shiny red car imagine if burnout went with that name
If a new Burnout was made on current gen hardware, the possibilities would be literally endless. The detailed crashes, more races than ever, realistic explosions.... a man can dream.
So can those who played the game
The amount of time you put in this reviews really shows. Great work! Please consider PGR 3 of 4.
Burnout 3: Takedown is the one you want, but the original one was what made me fall in love with the series. My best mate had it on PS2
I got this and MGS2 with my PS2, a GBA, with a WWF game I barley played, and Super Mario Advance 2 back in 2001 for Christmas. This game brings back memories for sure. Great vid!
it's ya boy Colourshed !!! Keep it up !!
This particular game was actually based on an old arcade racer by Konami called "Thrill Drive". It's pretty clear that they took a lot of design elements from that game from the generic car line-up, the yellow caution signs, the bumps on the Interstate track, and even the use of the Impact font. They even wanted to add some Tokyo-based tracks and police chases but ended up on the chopping block. Criterion (or at least one of their devs) actually approached Konami at one point to make a home port of Thrill Drive; but Konami didn't show much interest.
Anyway, can't wait to see you share your thoughts on Burnout 3 :)
The music changing after enough crashes is also taken from Thrill Drive
As another commenter has mentioned, this game bears quite a close similarity in a number of areas to Konami's "Thrill Drive" Arcade series (the first released in 1998, and the second in 2001). You drive a small selection of generic cars through traffic dangerously, and crashes result in a dynamic camera angle showing the crash again. I've only played any of them once; Thrill Drive 2 at an arcade many years ago. I vaguely remember this horrifying scream playing whenever you crashed; it made me want to avoid doing it xD!
I always thought of it like a horror racing game hybrid lol
I don’t understand why people don’t play on the original hardware to prevent the weird glitches that happen from playing on newer systems.
It’s inaccurate.
Do you not get the fact that not everyone HAS the original hardware? Ugh, think before you comment.
Bruh moment
@@bruhmomentum5433 Yeah cause PS2s are ~~really expensive~~ and totally not a basic investment you should make when reviewing a game made for a PS2 instead of shoddy emulation
Freezorg excuse me what I got mine for 60 dollars lmao
3 years late sorry...
But I wanted to say that I completely agree, and to anyone else reading this, I'll let you know that the GameCube version of this game on the Dolphin emulator runs flawlessly.
I❤ your review's! Can you review Supercar Challenge?
Another greatass review and editing
Can‘t wait for your Burnout 3 review!!
Maybe you had to be a kid at the time, but the mixture of arcade and realism in this game was what made it really addictive. The levels of traffic, design of the environments and intensity of the car crashes were unprecedented, and hooked me as a young person. I didn't play much of the championship mode, but just endlessly replayed single races. It's not as fun if you're trying really hard to progress through the game, but playing it just to race and have a good time and see some crazy crashes, there was nothing else like it.
I fondly remember the first time my car flipped off a cliff, out of bounds, during a crash. I was blown away that it was even possible.
It's even worse when you're playing on a 14 inch CRT and can barely see what's coming at you. This game gave me nerves of steel as a kid.
BURNOUT!! YOU MADE MY DAY, FINALLY!
Cant wait for a video on Driver San Francisco and Midnight Club 3!
can't wait for your paradise review
I'm a new subscriber, and I wanted to drop into the comments to say that your channel is amazing!!
Could you do a review on the original far cry?
Those graphics have aged sooooo well.
Hey love your reviews. Will you be reviewing saints row 4 and gat out of hell in the future?
I loved Burnout because of the arcade gameplay
And also this is amazing when you play a GameCube game on Wii
Didn't expect the first burnout game to look a lot like Thrill Drive
Is he going to be reviewing all of the burnout games ?
Also that van between the two tunnels in oncoming traffic is something that comes up only if you're leaving the AI cars for dead. One thing I noticed as I was going through that race just getting my times down. basically just use boost through the whole freeway section before those tunnels and it'll show up. It doesn't come up if you're slower or the AI are closer to you.
It's 2am here, but colourshed is colourshed, so I'mma watch it right now :)
Could you review OutRun 2 / OutRun 2006 Coast 2 Coast?
Great video man
The repeating sound glitch isn't just an emulator thing, it did it in the PS2 version as well- though it was rare, and normally happened with a sample of the music playing at the time.
Never had a problem
Kinda disappointing that you didn’t mention Thrill Drive, an arcade racing game developed by Konami that influenced the Burnout series. Without Thrill Drive, there would be no Burnout.
Other than that, excellent review!
Is it me or the first burnout almost plays like the same as Thrill Drive by Konami?
It's almost a complete copy, except they added nitrous and took out the driver analysis at the end of the race.
the idea originally was for criterion to develop a ps2 port of thrill drive but konami turned them down - so the ps2 thrill drive port became its own thing
Please finish Forza Motorsport 4 I’m dying to see it
Same
I can feel childhood memories coming back to me...
Nostalgia...
Same ;(
they were trying to emulate the gameplay of a konami racing game called "thrill drive". If you compare the first 2 games in each series side by side you'll see similar elements between the 2, even down to the UI. they planned on adding pedestrians into burnout much like thrill drive but the idea was scrapped in development, probably to keep the game from getting an exclusive ESRB or equivalent software rating.
Nice review, can you please do FlatOut series after burnout please?
burnout 2 is my alltime favorite, cant wait to see you review that one
Am I the only one who thinks Burnout 2 is the best game in the series?
6:53 - Funny you say this, because there was at least one map that was being developed for the game, but got scrapped before development ended. It was supposed to be a Hong Kong-esque track. They would eventually make a Hong Kong-esque track in later games; in particular: Dockside in Burnout 3: Takedown and Central City in Burnout Revenge.
So yeah, your suspicions were correct. Sucks that we never got to see that track make it into the final game. As I mentioned in the previous paragraph, at least we did get a couple of locations based on that city later down the line.
3:40 Basic is so true just from looking at the Menu :D
Nothing bad about that... It is a nice clean look. Way better then much of the current effect bombs we have today.
Everybody watching this demands another one especially burnout 3
Still waiting on that Midnight Club 3 review my dude... this one is good tho
I’v been patiently waiting for it...
@@MidnightClubStillCancelledSoz ayy, ur here as well
MC3 was one of the best racing games of the 6th generation.
Cancelled soz
@@xXbrokenvoidXx Of all time. When it comes to open world racers, I havs yet to find a game that matches the car selection and customization of Midnight Club 3. Need for Speed Underground 2 had a little more customization when you factor in the in depth tuning options, but it had a much smaller variety of vehicles.
Actually maybe the Forza Horizon games, though I haven't gotten around to playing them myself.
Thanks for the childhood memories, Spencer
I don't get the repeating skid sound glitch on my copy of the game. The engine just goes silent sometimes until I crash the car.
My First PS2 Game MY very First game thank You Burnout for not only Seeing how far You've done but For bringing me into The Arcade Racing he genre. I would not be the speed freak i am today without this game. Thank You.
Thank you ColourShedProductions for Reviewing my ChildHood.
What’s up with the random capitalized letters ?
Can you review Point of Impact, next?
Unfortunate that you couldn't hear much of the great soundtrack due to the X360 sound bug
I played and owned every burnout game and loved them all, 3 was my def favorite probs the only one I didn't finish as a kid due to that GP with the F1 car.
Played the original so much I memorized even the menu sound effects. Found the menu "double-beep" in Forza Motorsport 4 in one of ITS menus. I smiled for a while at that.
Can't wait for the Burnout 2 review, that game and Revenge is tied for being my favorite in the series :)
This is the only burnout game I never played. Currently playing through Burnout Revenge again and am having a blast. Great video, would love if you did a series on this franchise and did a vid on Burnout 2 Point of Impact next
Apparently in the first race in the Jorneyman Championship, it's impossible to get to first place, since aparently there is no such thing as Fair Play, I tried to drive the fastes cars, and I can barely get to first, only second place.
Dude if you would do a review on manhunt (1st one) and maybe in the future on the second one that would be amazing
He's from Australia right? It would be difficult because if I remember correctly they banned the game there making it basically impossible to get..... Also, CZcams may fuck him over because of it. Otherwise, would be really cool to see him do a review
Dimitri Sredojevic Huh yeah I guess dude after all it’s a pretty controversial game but we can only wait now, also maybe he can get away with the 1st one but the 2nd one I’m not even getting my hopes up too much for a review
@@samiris2973 Yea, just gotta wait now.
Any plans to review FM4 or Forza Horizon?
I used to bought one from pre-used games section at EB Games, Harbourtown in Perth back in 2009.
Sadly, the game frozes if i choose the first map, so i couldn't do the main part of the game. But i still able to play on the other mode.
I love to use the sedan car, since i like sedans in general.
And the damages when crashes were mindblowing, that i haven't got played games with it back then.
Just when i was making a 100% on Burnout Revenge, my phone rings and its this! Amazing
I hated Revenge, the traffic check system was such a stupid addition and removes the entire skill-based gameplay of avoiding traffic in an effort to appeal to an audience of 12 year olds
Traffic check made burnout revenge too easy other than that its still a good game
@@rickyrosay33977 It did make it easy but its way more fun. You cant deny that checkin on a mini van that suddenly crashes on an opponent is satisfying
@@Ziimbiian true
Later burnout games with crash modes specifically are super fun tbb
you should review the flatout series next
I went through a period a few years ago where I played almost every Burnout from the beginning and I can tell you that the first game is very rough, but the second game really improves the hell out of it. Burnout 2 was so much fun. And then Burnout 3 happened which really polished the gameplay up and turned the dial to 11.
And then Revenge came out and it was ok. In my opinion, it was a step back from 3. My main complaint was how dark and hard to see everything was. I haven’t played Paradise yet, but it looks nice. Not sure how I feel about open world Burnout, though.
"We are the lazy generation! 🎶"
I can say the game didn't have that sound glitch in the Gamecube version. I think the sound effects are slightly different on the Gamecube as well.
You should review Tony Hawk 4!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love the vids btw
I scrolled through the comments, and I’m unsure if anyone has mentioned this yet, I didn’t see a comment about it anyway but didn’t have time to read every single one, but the reason this game was rated “teen” or “mature” in Australia may have simply been for “mild lyrics” which isn’t unusual for the early 2000’s. A lot of games in North America received a teen rating solely for that reason. Great review though. Just doing a bit of back-catalogue today on your channel.
Thanks!
Great review for this game
keep it up colourshed♥️
Il ne le dit pas dans sa vidéo et ce n'est pas non plus dit sur wikipédia mais avant de sortir sur PS2 Burnout était un jeu sur borne d'arcade, je m'en souviens très bien.
Will you ever review persona games ?
You ever heard of a game called Thrill Drive from Konami?
2:10 - hey look a Suzuki Escudo
Please do point of impact and takedown ( the best in the burnout series)
Thant's interesting it was rated that way in Australia. In the Us, this game was rated E for everyone.
I remember first hearing about Burnout in the old Nintendo and gaming magazines (IGN, GamePro) and got it a little while after release for the Gamecube.
It was a different and other than the lack of cars / tracks was good for what it provided. It seemed like a demo of what could be and I thought it would be better if they amped up the action.
Sure enough they did and the rest is history.
anyone who is a fan of burnout should check out 3 arcade games by konami called "Thrill drive" same idea as burnout but taken to a more extreme and graphic presentation
I was in to comment „WHO THE FUCK UPLOADS AT 2 IN THE MORNING“ until I remembered that you are Australian 😆
That red dead 2 review is really cooking huh?

Ayee this was my favorite game when i was a kid
Yes, I love the game shiny red car
burnout is the best racing series ever. ive spent countless hours in burnout 3 and burnout paradise. i would love to see a new burnout game in the style of the first 3 away from EA’s corrupting hands.
