- There are lots of great forwards available in this year's NHL Draft, but not many big ones. Sneaky Joe has five draft targets at forward for the Sabres, including one power forward, and a few smaller skilled guys, including Jarome Iginla's son, Tij Iginla.
Plus, reaction to the latest report that the Sabres indeed will be buying out Jeff Skinner's contract.

Miroslav Šatan Jr. is 18 and listed at 6'7", I'd like for the Sabres to grab him with a mid-draft pick. With his size and his dad's tenure here, it would be a cool story.

I agree. Helenius has played in Finland's men's league for two years, gets decent points, and he's only 17.
The only way that the Jeff Skinner buyout isn’t considered a complete bust, is if they use that money and make a big splash in Free Agency.
If buying him out was to free up money, and all were doing essentially is losing his point production, then it’s a huge mistake.

Not to mention that they still have around $20 million in cap space to still get a good free agent if they decided to keep him regardless
Skinner and his contract are the bust. 9 mil a yr for a minus 130 career player. That mean there has been 130 more goals scored against the Sabres when he's on the ice. Then what was scored with him on the ice. Huge liability.
@@daniellowe8074 and making things worse by removing his points and having dead salary on the books for 6 years is a better option for you, instead of waiting one more season is a better solution to you?
Nothing can be done about the fact that a bad contract was signed, but making an even worse financial mistake by paying out around $19 over the next 6 years for ZERO points, when he’s good for at least 50 points without a replacement in place, makes even less sense.

I like Michael Brandsegg-Nygaard. Best defensive forward of anyone projected to go in the 10-20 range. 6-1, 207. Plays a 200 foot game. Just what the Sabres need.
When Skinner is bought out we are very light at LW both at NHL level and on the farm. If drafting for position left wing would be the top option followed by right sided defence.
Tij Iginla, yes please, but he is not getting past Calgary, but I think he goes before #9. Konsta Helenius is the player that I think is most realistic player that I actually want. Berkly Catton is the player that has been rising the most during the late season. I think Catton goes top 10. Beckett Sennecke is a possible, he seems to divide scouts in his ranking. Hoping that Buffalo do not draft Cole Eiserman. He seems like Jeff Slinner Mk2, scores lots of goals but cannot defend.

Iginla is going no higher than 5 and no lower than 9. If they go forward (I prefer a D-man) I want Helenius.
Edit: also some help on pronunciations: Catton is Cat-tin and Sennecke is basically Seneca.
Yea I’d love to get Tig……but otherwise, if Buffalo doesn’t trade the pick, they probably should draft defensive. Maybe not……the top 4 are currently young and that d Corp should be together for the next 10 years

Sorry to see Skinner go, but it needs to be done. With the cap space, talent pool and of course the 11th pick, hopefully the Sabres can get hyper-aggressive and make a/some move(s) to get a player who can really help this team. It's a shame they can't get Utah to trade for Skinner (even if we need to pick up some of that salary)... and in honor of your hat Joe (and Halloween III)... One more day to the draft, to the draft, to the draft... One more day to the draft, Silver Shamrock...
I would rather trade our prospects than 11th. Need to keep age gaps in our pipeline. I am hoping for Catton but I’ve seen him constantly mocked before Sabres.
The skinner buyout smells like KA he knows he will be gone if they don’t make the playoffs this year, and he’s trying to improve this year at the cost of the future
We can thank our fans for that, who seem to think just getting into the playoffs matters more than slowly building a Stanley cup winner. Our fans learned nothing from the last 13 years.

Pick might be traded as according to Pierre Lebrun of TSN , Buffalo is offering the pick to Carolina for Martin Necas! He would be a nice addition! Fingers crossed !🙏🙏
If they keep the pick I might be biased as im an Oshawa Generals fan ,i say take Sennecke ( pronounced SENECA) from the Generals or Liam Greentree who is 6'3" from Windsor. Sennecke needs to work on his D coverage and fill out physically as he went through growth spurt last season .

The pick isn’t worth all that much. You want Copp from Detroit? Those are the kind of guys you get with a late lottery pick. Should have traded it at the trade deadline when it was worth more.
Disagree with most of the prospect profiles given here.
Comparing Helenius to Sam Bennett, Brady Tkachuk, or Brad Marchand is laughable. He's no where near as irritating or physical as any of those guys. He's more like Zach Benson. Plays smart, hard, active stick, but he's not knocking full sized men over. Helenius' offensive upside has been questioned.
Beckett Sennecke is tall but lean and not all that physical. The 'FU' comment from Mackenzie is really about how with Sennecke's elite hands he stickhandles through players by doing things most players wouldn't dare attempt. Super late bloomer, really only had his coming out party a few months ago. Huge upside, but also huge risk if the past few months are just a flash in the pan.
You said Cole Eiserman is not going to give you size and physicality. He's 6' 200lbs', actually more physical than Helenius or the 180lb Sennecke. Eiserman will throw hard checks, almost to a fault by taking himself out of position, but will also stand in front of the net and take a beating to fight for rebounds and loose pucks. Not much of a complete 200-foot player though.
You totally whiffed by not mentioning Michael Brandsegg-Nygård at all. He's the most physical first round graded prospect. Only 6'1" but already 210lbs and hits like a freight train. Most complete 200 foot player in the draft and arguably most NHL ready. Relentless on forecheck. Wicked shot to boot. You want to talk about gritty players with a real FU attitude, that's your guy.
