- Attorney Ted Olson, a star in conservative legal circles, has argued 65 cases before the U.S Supreme Court, on issues ranging from the disputed 2000 election and money in politics, to same-sex marriage and the children of illegal immigrants. But his stance has not always reflected traditional conservative doctrine. Olson talked with correspondent Mo Rocca about overcoming polarization, and about his marriage, which demonstrates that opposites attract.

He asks for civility after what he did for dark money? 🙄
@@alexthompson9516 Citizens United and gutting election laws.
Karen Bice, I agree with your assessment completely, and he's all about the buck
Hello
How you doing today?
I respect that Ted Olsen finally evolved and went from restrictive to inclusive, and represented real people with huge issues, but Ted, the final step in your CITIZEN'S UNITED argument should have been... if Corporations are People as you argued and won, then they must be taxed as people... period.
See double taxation (noun): taxation by the same authority of the same property for the same period and the same purpose 😬
Interesting piece. And I appreciate what he's trying to say about civility... but also, Citizens United has dramatically hastened the push of media into polarization, and created a LOT of today's uncivilized "discourse." (if you can even call it that) Also, in many people's hearts & minds, Citizens United helped fund and elevate corporate disinformation above properly sourced journalism. Feels like he's just trying to clean-up/white-wash/rationalize his personal history a little.
I agree
5:23 the best way to respect the people who passed is to live for them ❤️❤️ that’s what I tell myself everyday
I've lost two husbands. The best advice I read was in 1990:
"There will be OTHERS... there will NEVER BE ANOTHER, but there WILL BE OTHERS."
How true! I don't COMPARE my husbands or lovers... I CELEBRATE each of them for their unique qualities, and what we brought/ bring to each others lives!
My beloved Mike died of cancer when I was 34; he 48. Seven years ago, treasured Bill died of systemic scleroderma. I am now 67. 💗
“It begins with bad manners; it ends with random shootings in the streets.” - Evelyn Waugh
Why didn't the reporter follow up with, "yes- is there a chance that your present wife influenced you with a different perspective?" There is nothing wrong with people changing your minds, especially your wife. There is no shame in that.
The damage done to the world by the first two cases cannot be understated. Forever he will be the one who gave corporations personhood. No matter how many good fights came after, I cannot forgive that. Just because someone is affable to speak with does not make them a friend.
This guy is part of the problem. Seriously.
Citizens United was legislating from the bench, Judge Scala was an activist on the bench, and we're paying a heck of a price, Tech corporations are calling the shots, not Congress.
An affable man whose life’s work ruined the United States (and arguably the world) irreparably.
you're literally subscribed to Clash with Cory... bruh check out Kenny Jo or sum!
@@oliverhoward1940 I’m subbed to but seldom watch either…I’ll watch iTzu or CarbonFin if I want to learn a TH14 strategy…but Citizens United is some bull…
He grew up in California. He was born in Chicago. He's not a California native. We do not claim him! Citizens United is just plain evil.
this isn't about you, liberal jagoff/
We are being submerged in labels, categories, and identity politics.
I will bet he was rewarded for his deeds.
Yes. Rewarded handsomely I'm sure.
Rocca: “Why did the Bush side win?”
Olson: “We were right.”
Well, damn.
Hmm,well Ted look at your legal career and what you argued on behalf of ,don't be surprised we are less civil when you helped to architect where American society is today.
Nothing to do with him.
I, for one, don't consider him a famous attorney. Johnny Cochran was a famous attorney. He argued at the Supreme Court for Bush in Bush against Gore for the presidency, the Crown Jewel in politics. When asked why he won he gave an offhand answer, "Because we were right" to a serious question. He argued for Citizens United, which in my mind anyway, makes him one of the bad 'uns.
We all could use a lot less of him and her
i wish they had interviewed his wife Lady.. she sounds much more accomplished!
She was on one of the planes that were hijacked on 9-11
@@bobjordan9 Barbara Olson was the one on the airplane, Lady Olson is the current spouse.
His new wife Lady Booth is Barbara Olson with heavy plastic surgery .
I watched this on the Sunday Morning segment, and wanted to see just this part again, he has quite an incredible story and life.
Ted Olson has a lot to atone for after inflicting Bush and Citizen United on us innocent Americans!
He does not look 80
This story is why we can't just lump people as good or bad, a lesson that partisanship should discover.
Arkansas Project. And no you were not right in Bush v Gore.
I remember Bush V. Gore and the precise reasoning behind the decision.
corporations are not people
2:04 and that’s its
Tell that to the people Bush killed with his dirty little war.
He and his wife were the most uncivil people of their time.
So is CBS. Members of federalist society Desantis Barr sessions. . . Amy. Barrett. Kavanaugh. Grassley gaetz cruz. Session. Don Mc Gahn. He is
Not interesting
Yeah move on to Princess Diana. Now that's interesting. O boy.
2:05
He probly is a federalist socety member
7:29 just like doctors think
RINO ALERT
This man is evil. Very evil
@Scott Allen citizens United. Sorry.
People say he murdered his own wife Barbara Olson. That is evil but she died
And the award for being a snake in the grass goes to..
i thank god for the blood of the lamb
He went on a date a couple of MONTHS after his wife died?
Suspicious. RIP BARBARA OLSON😭
Yeah that she was one of passenger of American Flight 77 that hijacked and crash into The Pentagon killing everyone onboard including their inside building
Populist ?
What a fascinating man and life... Proof that the law isn't conservative or liberal, but decision weighed by humanity and life values.
😏😒😏😒😏😒😏
#cupcakke💅🏻
It’s easy to be civil when you aren’t living paycheck to paycheck.
His wife was on on the planes that hit the twin towers
His wife was on American 77 which hit the Pentagon.
Why is this guy not the head of the supreme court?
After watching an 8 minute segment, pumping up his achievements and his, " I'm just like you, folks, really I am", you're ready to make him chief justice? Wow.
