It’s amazing how he had to defend Mucha’s work from accusations that it was supposedly irrelevant! People are such group-thinkers. In 1996, I went to Prague specifically to see Mucha’s works. I saw the incredible room he did in the Town Hall (I think that’s what it’s called). And someone told me where Mucha’s house was across from the castle, so I went and knocked on the door - and Geraldine Mucha (Jiri’s wife) answered and gave me a private tour!! The house was filled with many original prints and paintings by Mucha. It felt like stepping back in time and remains one of the highlights of my life.
I'm so glad Jiri lived to see the revival of le style Mucha that occurred with the hippy movement. He had to suffer, as did his father, the decades of modernism in which such work wasn't appreciated.
Goddess like women! So beautyful! I grew up with his pictures as wallpaper in our toilettes (!) Even received the task from my dad to decipher and pronounce Sarah Bernhardt (how mean) on one of them as I was learning to read and right. I love Mucha.
Very interesting. I love how his basic process for a design was shown in 3 illustrations 10:40. Also the comparison of the reference photo to the final artistic rendering. Thank you!
i have always loved muchas love of the female form ,which comes across in his out put ,which is focused on the female form , in an era where the female was treated as something close to a goddess ,sadly this vision has long evaporated into the ether.

I love this man's art, but I swear, half the time I wish I didn't bother watching documentaries about them. The attitudes toward women, knowing that he had that same hate/love/fear complex of men over the course of history is just such a let down. I know - modern sensibilities placed on the past, but I still can't help but feel let down by our collective human past when it comes to women and the ideas of sexuality. I just wish he would have been above it is all. Ah well.
You must be fat and ugly. go to the private womens gym where no man has to look at you getting unfat and ungross. People had respect for themselves back then, even Americans. He's Slavic, Slavic women are the most beautiful women onthe planet, your obviously not Slavic.

That is such a cool story. Time is passing all of us by
Jesse, WOW, what a wonderful experience. Glad it was given to you.
Was it the Municipal House? From what I've seen in photos the frescoes he painted there are absolutely beautiful
Wow! Great story
Whaaaaa!!!! Are you kidding?!! That’s amazing.
Beauty has been stolen from the people and sold back to them as a concept of "luxury". I feel that Mucha would agree with this phrase.
This is a treasure.

Love how the lady in the mirror looks like one of Mucha's girls.
Yeah, it must have been intentional by the director of the documentary, very nice.
Marvellous video!

Wonderfull!
Muy bueno 👍
Who dislikes something like this? lol I recently stumbled on to Mucha's work. It's so beautiful.
Such a beautiful 27:18 well spent.
Two thumbs down by some Art Deco snobs
Art deco is design by a drafting T-square by those who can't draw.
Such a bitter end.
Thanks for the video. Jiri comes across as likeable.
13:22 probably Paul Gauguin
14:26 Tom Waits? :)
Is there an original reference from where this video is from? Citation or copyright? Thanks
I think that the colors in this video are way off.
