Ableton should definitely pay you for your videos, they're masterclasses on how to use their product.
Sometimes I don’t even care what he is doing in ableton, I just like the funny stuff he comes out with. I remember when he had an argument with himself but was mimicking an Aphex twin fan boy criticising his own tutorial, that was gold
one of my favourite new things in 12 is you can just hold down B for the brush/pen just while you use it, then let go and it turns off. works with the other single key toggle things too
The frogs outside are loving your time warped beats.
bucephalus bouncing ball by aphex twin is all like this. i love you ned rush
It’s cool that he could do it 30 years ago.
@@colinmontgomery2881 he did it on atari computer using commands, so no interface just text. Brutal
I‘m glad you finally did this video. Before A12 released you did a Short with the melt chords and I’ve wondered since then.
15:55 Second Woman + Mark Fell would like a word
Hanging out in a studio with you would be so fun! Thanks for todays creative highlight 🙌🏻
This video was a blast, cheers!
"that thing going off the grid there" "what, you mean like the Good Life? Like Felicity Kendal?"
Ned Rush: Come for the production help, stay for the top quality patter.
Off the grid probably means not using quantized MIDI triggers
Ned use “copy value to siblings” in the right click menu, you won’t have to click between drum rack cells to mod the same parameter. Workflow!
If I didn't have a nasty cold, I would go and make some wonky beats with this technique right away 🙂👍😎
thank you Ned! Would you ever consider doing that video about making music sound like AI without actually using AI? Maybe with FFT filters and bad encoding etc...
crazy type beat yo
Don’t forget to select all and quantize to the whole note for a quick clean-up.
greetingz ... your aphex twin 😏
Will U ever stop doing this shitt??? I'm starting to spend more time watchin your tuts than workin on ableton - it's more fun. Love those midi visuals !
CLOCKS PLAID
Word of the day: aleatoric
My take away as well 😂. That and I need to upgrade to Live 12
Let's do the time warp again.
damn. cool. makes me on drugs
Is this drill?
with beats like these and you still question how on Earth you attract psytrance crowd? xD
well in heavy dubstep going off the grid just means popping the sample delay panel open and sliding stuff around in time til its wonky. its basically just groove or swing
but if all you do is mess with delaying the notes your notes are still linked to a "grid", and their relationship is still griddy, except they're offset a bit. Like the space between the notes is still griddy
@@notnoaintno5134 the definition of sliding things in time is going off grid.....go far enough and youre just back on grid.
@@notnoaintno5134 i was just giving a modern example of simplifying the process to stay in the workflow instead of humanizing every single note
@@notnoaintno5134 a swing is a consistent off grid hit.its not all over the place every time its just swung a bit and hits slightly dif each time
You're not the boss of me! I'll spill a little bit of water on the floor if I so please.
