On the drumset it just sounds like you are playing a tom, but there is a snare in the room that somebody forgot to turn off when they were done with it.

No hole sounded way better because of articulation and as a not percussionist I gotta say I’m proud of myself for identifying the same flaw as a professional percussionist did even if it’s almost obvious
i once made a marching harness for a tenor pad by tearing apart an old metal filing rack, securing it to the pad with 4 belts, and strapping it to me with 3 backpacks, a necktie, and another belt.
