@💞Miss_Izzy💞 that is my point, black girls can be taught basic midwifery techniques at a young age,but the imperialist and capitalist system you are under, they want to give the insecure man his chance to touch women as a quack called a female reproductive organ doctor as if a man knows what it's like to go through it physically. It is so stupid that if a girl gets a genital issue, she has to drive to the hospital and look for a man who was given the practical skills by politics of sympathy for insecure boys, calling themselves physicians and hoarding the laboratory research to themselves as so called Professors as if everyone else can't physically sense or experience existence.

I had a pretty heavy discharge at 65 and felt perfectly fine. It wasn’t for a long period of time, and I thought it would go away. I went to the Dr. On another matter she said it was time for a Pap test. A week later, my life changed. I had endometrial cancer, with no symptoms whatever, other than this discharge. My life was saved, but it was pure luck. I was late stage three. After chemo, radiation, it has now been over 5 years. So don’t ignore anything unusual about your body, whether you feel fine or not. Hope this saves someone’s life!

I think it’s just as important for women to know what “normal” or regular discharge looks like, only ever pointing out discharge that is the sign of something wrong is problematic. Normal discharge can be a variety of different colours and odour considered normal depending on where a woman is a in their cycle. Some brown discharge can happen for days after a period, some times when a woman is ovulating the discharge is sticky and like clear jello. Sometimes normal discharge is white and not quite cottage cheese but similar to what this video deemed as discharge indicative of a yeast infection. Odour also changes and we need to become more specific about what fishy smells like, because not every one knows what that means. Is the pungent or mild, is it sour or neutral smelling. These are much more consistent with reality than what all of these CZcams videos show. Also depending on where you’re from and whether or not you smoke, your discharge will be different because of what your body is receiving. Women’s vaginal health is greatly affected by not only sugar but by smoking, antibiotics, wheat/grains, fabric in contact with the vagina and most importantly saliva and fluids from sex and the exchange of sexual fluids. We need to get better a describing the range of things in a woman’s environment that naturally affect vaginal discharge and discuss more how often a woman’s discharge changes throughout their cycle and from their 20’s to their 30’s to their 40’s and so on. Let’s please stop talking about all the indications of diseased discharge it’s toxic, misogynistic and doesn’t at all inform women about what they should expect everyday. As a woman myself I can tell you how many times I have questioned if my normal discharge is in fact normal, because no one talks about it… let’s do better “Healthy Magazine”/CZcams discharge videos, this is not good enough.

@@krystalfukinmarie757 thanks. It make me sad really… It is such a shame how much we normalize speaking about how “gross” the vagina is, but no one wants to speak to women about what IS normal. Vaginas are amazing and delicate and complicated and having one for my whole life has been quite difficult to navigate all by myself. I wish we could talk about the everyday and not only when something is “off”. And the word “fishy” needs to go. Comparing our anatomy to dead fish is what has been giving the vagina a bad rap for ages.

This is gonna sound weird, but I teach my son about puberty and sex through hormones and what they do. How they work differently in males and females. Random examples: estrogen is key to cognitive ability but it is always taught as a sex hormone. And how genital discharge is different for men and women.
In short, I try to teach him what I know. The world will show him cultural and normative trends, and as his parent, I will give him what I can in wisdom.

This barely talked about the normal discharge changes during cycles. This is super important it should be taught to everyone especially people with vaginas. It is great indicator of fertility, and where you are in your cycle. If we were taught how bodies work there from at young age there would be much less unplanned pregnancy and more insight in hormonal health.

  • @haddow777
    @haddow777 Před 2 lety +12

I thought I would just say here that it was nice that the video emphasized smell as being an important element in understanding discharge. I know probably a lot of guys will be turds about it, but in my mind it's important to bring up too.
We are animals and smell is a very important and often ignored or trivialized sense. It can also be the sense that most people have anxiety over. Whether it's a fart, BO, or some other bodily odor, it can be something we worry a lot about.
I'm just going to state something that is true about people that most people will deny. When we touch our genitalia, we typically smell our fingers afterward. Male or female, it is true. It is an instinctual way of gauging our bodily health.
I had a partner who would become terribly embarrassed if I saw her doing this. I would simply tell her I thought it was a normal thing to do, but she just couldn't get over being embarrassed by it, so I would have to pretend not to notice.
If a guy tries to say he doesn't do it, he's lying. We all do. Also, it's normal to have some smell. Part of sexuality and arousal is highly intertwined with pheromones. So, some smell is good. For those with anxiety over it, just keep in mind that having a smell isn't bad, it's normal. Checking your own smell a lot gives you an idea when there is a change in smell.
As the video points out, changes are not always bad, but are data to be observed. It is just another indicator you have for keeping track of your health.
I'm not an expert and I don't have a vagina, but I can understand anxiety. So my point is mainly, don't think that having a smell or keeping track of your own scent is abnormal.
Now of course, I'm not promoting that we all just go around in public scratching and sniffing, just that we normalize scent tracking as part of healthy living. You shouldn't be embarrassed around a partner.

It doesn't help that songs like WAP help that idea along. Don't feel bad though. For many guys, a woman being wet is a turn on. So, it could be more that he's turned on by it than he actually believes you are.
One thing to keep in mind is, that this video is pointing out that many people are ignorant of what discharge is and what it means. The most guys get taught about discharges in vaginas is that when women get aroused, one of the signs is that there will be increased moisture for lubrication. That is taught in sex ed classes. So, most likely, that's what he's been taught.
I don't want to say how to overcome the issue, as communication in relationships is a very complicated thing. Simply, in my mind, you definitely shouldn't be feeling bad about his ignorance, as if you've done anything wrong.

In some months I get discharges but not periods. I'd rather get discharges tho cuz it's not a waste for pads lol

Mine was like that last month. Freaked me out. (Pregnancy surprise wasn’t a concern, unless I’m gonna carry the anti-messiah.) Hate to say it but bleeding heavily through several overnight pads in the next cycle was a bit of a relief-it’s at least expected.

Why did you not mention what healthy discharge looks like?

That annoyed me too. Video also didn’t go into the brown/red discharge at all. (And I’m incredibly annoyed that this is still more information than I previously had about my own body. UGH.)
