    Ranunculus need a high potassium fertilizer, i use tomato fertilizer.
    Hi from Germany and I read the newest 😊scientific trials about growing ranunculus.
    Some already have blossoms, 2 are blooming.
    Mine get their next fertilization on Friday.

    I’ve found that Orlaya prefers the spring temps. They may not be a great choice for a hoop house crop after you pull your ranunculus. Just my experience thus far. The Floret Library suggests they should be transplanted when the weather is still cool. Might be a little warm in the hoop house?

    I looked back at pictures and my overwintered campanula started blooming the tail end of May for me in zone 5! Celosia did awesome in my tunnel last year with me direct sowing in late June!

    Good luck on the ranunculus -- they look great -- I only get a few to bloom each year -- I only plant 40-50 of them but hoping for several blooms this year

      Can ranunculus be saved from year to year? If so what is the best way to store them. I live in zone 3a (🇨🇦) and just purchased some and started them indoors… I’m hoping to put them out in a month or so… I heard that they like cool weather. Ideas?

      @@susanbernier9399 I dig mine up after they die back -- dry them and then store them in paper bags in my basement (I live in a dry area) -- but I am not an expert on growing them so hopefully others will give advice as well

    Do you have the exact dates you planted out your campanula last year. Seems like it was a good experiment on effect of planting time vs size. I want to try and overwinter campanula this fall. Your hoop house looks great

    I’m wondering what you do with the ranunculus corms after flowering , do you let the greenery die back on the corm to feed it , dig them up ,let them dry and then store away like a dahlia ? I’m in zone 8 can I Leave them in the ground ? Thank you 💐

    • @SunshineFlora
      @SunshineFlora  Před 4 měsíci +2

      Yes. Dig them up after they die back and store them for the winter

    Thank you, Christina! I have a quick question as I just finished my high tunnel yesterday and M in zone 5A. I could not believe the heat generated in my hoop house it was like 95° in the day and the outside temperature was about 45. Do you get concerned about high temps?

    • @SunshineFlora
      @SunshineFlora  Před 4 měsíci

      I put shade cloth on mine which helps. Also I vent it. Are you able to vent the house by opening up the sides? If so - do that for sure!

      @SunshineFlora Maybe so because when I first planted them a couple of years ago...I sprouted them and planted them..they had good green growth and then I thought they would never bloom....I remember thinking ....hurry and bloom, I need to get my veggies growing 😩
      But I will take flowers over veggies any day of the week !!!
      Let us know when yours start to bloom though

    • @SunshineFlora
      @SunshineFlora  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Depends when you warm weather hits. They will “shut down” when temps get over 70.
