Copper is needed first anyway, so i only search for copper in the ice biome, mostly i find gold almost at the same time.
The technique with the digging in a lake or river is very usefull, so its much easier and faster to get down to the crust.
Nice side effect is that you can then use a waterwheel also when you arrange the end of the tunnel in the right way.
Then you can use the Arrastra, Rockerbox and Bloomery down there and keep the Tailings away from the surface.
Then you just have to bring the bars to the surface.
Later you can use pipes to power the Waterwheel, where ever you want!
    Just have an open end.
Fun Fact: you only need one pipe, because you can use the water that flows out with no problem in many pumps and use it for the Blastfurnace and so on, i mostly create a circular piping, water comes down from the river or sea, drives one water wheel, that out flow then i pump into the blastfurnace, through the filter and release it on the next water wheel, some times i have up to 5 water wheels at the crust level.
When you also use different pipe types you can use them side by side with no connecting, for example, iron pipe for fresh water, steel pipe for exhaust and copper pipe for dirty water.

This is really clever and a great tip. I've always struggled with transferring tailing underground. Having the Arrastra, Rockerbox and Bloomery down there is significantly better. I am glad that searching in the ice biome makes the most sense to other people too.

When you say "Between layers 41-65" that is what you mean, right? You use the minimap XYZ coordinates as reference, right?
In another situation you say "Between 26 and 75 blocks beneath the surface". So if the surface is at 60 blocks, that would mean the ore is found between height -15 and 34, right?
Would be easier if you used the same terms

      Hey Baden,
I believe it's actually below the surface rather than in layers like in Minecraft. I apologize if I was unclear about that. There was a reference spreadsheet detailing how many blocks below the surface each ore could be found, but it’s no longer available. With the updates from Eco 10 and now 11, that information might be outdated. I’ll definitely create a guide incorporating your suggestions once I've had a chance to explore Eco 11 more. Thanks for your input!

Hey! I am glad this video helped you out. Swimming got changed a little in version 10 of Eco. You can swim in lakes but swimming in deep oceans uses a lot of calories so that you can't swim from island to island anymore. Boats are a must have.

I believe that ores will now generate in veins in Eco 10.0 and are less clumped together. Gold should still be found in the same biomes as before and possibly at the same depths. I am yet to search for gold in Eco 10.0 but will make an updated guide once I know more. Let me know where you find it if you can.

@@RageBitGaming Omg, did they revert to the old crap where you find small amounts now and then?

I believe at this stage (10.1) the answer is yes. I am still exploring how it all works at the moment. I have found iron ore and copper ore exposed on the surface in small amounts in the correct biomes. Only 20-40 pieces. It's certainly interesting and potentially frustrating for full time miners.
