Awesome looks, nice wide landing gear, and excellent flying characteristics and just some of the reasons you should bring it back. The Jug pilots are out there. You already have the mold. Watch the documentary "Thunderbolts over the Reich" and model the paint scheme after one of those. The red and white striped tails and the grey and green camouflage would be would look BA. Thank you

    hello Horizon Hobby Team.
    Many thks for the high quality of your videos and comments on E-Flite model Warbirds !
    If you had to choose between the 2 "small" T-28 and P-51 (in 1.2m) ... which would you choose?
    They both seem to have good assets and high flying qualities.
    But according to your point of view, what would be the pluses and minuses?
    Thks for reading.

    I purchased this plane and love it! I noticed I’m getting total voltage telemetry for the pack on non-smart batteries too! I looked for an update for my other ar631’s. Is this a version 2 or something? I don’t see updates for my older 631’s that include this feature. Just hoping to pick your brain. Thanks!

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  Před rokem +1

      You should always see overall battery voltage, whether using Smart or non-Smart batteries, with all "full" Smart and Smart Lite ESCs when used with a Smart compatible receiver (including the 410, 620, 630, 631, 637, 8360, 10360, etc.). Battery voltage telemetry is a function of the Smart ESC in this case. The 637, 8360 and 10360 receivers can also give you overall battery voltage telemetry without the use of a Smart ESC (but the 410, 620, 630 and 631 require a Smart ESC) by attaching the included lead to the main power leads of a non-Smart ESC. Also, "full" Smart ESCs will show individual cell voltages (and battery temp!) when using Smart batteries, or overall battery voltage with non-Smart batteries. Smart Lite ESCs only show overall battery voltage with Smart and non-Smart ESCs (as is this case for the ESC/receiver installed in this model). Hope this info helps!

      @HorizonHobbyProducts  Před rokem

      Yes! If you're already comfortable flying the E-flite Air Tractor 1.5m and the Pitts 850mm you should have no problems with this as your first low-wing taildragger warbird model :) Just be sure to use plenty of right rudder and to slowly bring up the throttle on takeoff...and to be ready on the rudder when landing!

    I have two of the P-51D June Night's. I've compared the new one to the old one and according to your site both use the same BL15 850Kv motor. The old one is using a 40amp esc and the new one uses a 70 amp esc. Does the new one perform better than the old one with just the addition of a 70 amp esc? Would upgrading the June Night model to the new avian 70 amp esc increase the performance and would it be at the cost of battery consumption, hence the need to use a 4S 3200 vs the 2200?

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  Před rokem +1

      The 70A ESC has lower resistance that offers better performance with a bit more current draw. The difference is not huge, but this latest iteration with the 70A ESC does have a bit more power with 2200 and 3200mAh batteries...and will better survive when flying in hot summer conditions :)

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  Před měsícem

      After the ESC is armed, increase/raise the throttle trim until the motor begins to spin. You'll have to be careful and use throttle cut immediately if the airplane ever noses over, crashes, and/or when you're going to handle it. You'll then have to lower the throttle trim to the middle position in order to get the ESC to arm the next time you install a battery.

    I'm liking this new 1.2m P-51 scheme, and I keep hearing how much enjoyable the 1.2m is to fly compared to the 1.5m. It's sad to hear that the 1.5m Folke Wulf doesn't sell well, as I think it has great air presence and is probably more manageable it's 1.5m Mustang cousin.

    I still have my p47 1.2m plane. Actually, it might be a 1.1m now that I'm thinking about it.
    I love it.
    I think it's an awesome plane.
    It flies beautifully n ita easily 8 or so years old. I don't fly it too often as a lot of my planes have made it to my wall.

    This scheme is really growing on me. I had my eyes on the June Nite but i like the updated electronics in this. My first plane has been a Maule M7 and i`ve loved it. Its been easier to learn with than i was expecting given its not really a trainer. Not sure i`m willing to take such a risk with plane number two though... 😬

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  Před rokem +1

      Congrats on your success with the Maule!! It's not technically a trainer, but with SAFE Select turned on -- especially with the help of an instructor and/or practicing on the RealFlight simulator -- it is a model some can learn to fly with successfully! And our top recommendations for a "Next Step"/second airplane and first-ever warbird model are the E-flite T-28 Trojan 1.1m ( www.horizonhobby.com/search?q=E-flite+T-28+1.1m&search-button=&lang=default ), or the larger 1.2m model that's also equipped with flaps and retracts ( www.horizonhobby.com/search?q=E-flite+T-28+1.2m&search-button=&lang=default ). The P-51 1.2m is a bit harder to take off and land than both of the T-28 models (and the Maule!) because it's a low-wing taildragger. But in the air it's not much more difficult to fly! That said, it's easier to get used to the handling of a low-wing tricycle landing gear equipped warbird model before making the jump to a taildragger warbird model though :)

      Grass surfaces vary greatly (in length/thickness of the grass and how smooth the surface is underneath) so it's hard to say for certain if this model will work well on your particular grass surface. It can fly from very short grass surfaces of course, and potentially up to the length/thickness of grass typically found at many parks.

  • @todtalk3912
    @todtalk3912 Před rokem

    I wish you would release some of the 800mm size planes again. I loved those.
    Kinda like an in between of this size and the umx 4-500mm sizes. That way you can make em 4s compatible and potentially even release a new battery size that is skinny and plenty capable in 4s to maximize its fly time.
    Anyway, that purple p51 voodoo is an excellent release. I will be waiting for March as I missed the original release.
    I think you can even name that size your racer size or racer models something to that affect and release a few good selling low wing models and def a couple jets in that size.
    I'd love to see a smaller jet release as well that are not just beginner models.
    I know you have obviously cornered the market in ease of flying, but maybe instead of just adding safe and what not, you can have a pro line that eliminates some stuff some people may not want, for better control surfaces that wont strip when flown hard and also higher level esc's and motors that have a much more difficulty level to fly.
    I think a pro line would be epic.
    Then, instead of just raising the price, you can offset the price with better parts, instead of all the other electronics. As3x ofcourse.
    I still have HH models without any safety features and I enjoy flying those, esp in some hairy conditions, as it makes it very fun, lol.
    Pro line could even have the caveat of not being returnable or exchanged unless it was never put together or flown.
    Barring any manufacture defects. Would could eliminate you from liability of the guy who flew the simulator twice in a store and thonk there good to go out and rip a model with an advanced prerequisite because they wanted to try the faster model and blamed you when they lawn darted the plane after 1st take off because they don't even know what CG is.
    I love HH. You guys have stayed so incredibly true to what matters, stayed innovating. Kept this hobby alive as far as I'm concerned.
    Its cool to see you, rc informer, a bunch of u guys, so incredibly happy to this day after reviewing and flying every rc plane made by HH.
    I feel like I have the same love for this Hobby and I'm always pointing others in this direction, esp the ones who mention drones when they first started becoming popular.
    Thanks for the amazing review.

    I didn’t understand the logic for tying safe select to the flaps instead of the retracts- if flaps are down safe select would on-ok- safe would be on for take-offs and landings- if gear is down safe select would be off? Why isn’t the logic the same- gear down Safe on for takeoffs and landings - can someone explain?

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  Před 6 měsíci

      This is because the retracts in this model function opposite of SAFE and cannot be reprogrammed. For this model SAFE would be on when the retracts are up, and off when they are down...which is the opposite of what you want. However, the flap system menu allows you to reprogram the flaps so when they are down SAFE is on, and vice versa. That is still not ideal though, and this is why it's much better to have a 7+ channel transmitter so you can control SAFE separate from the retracts and flaps (you only need to combine SAFE with one of them if you have a 6-channel transmitter).

      Yes! This field is only about 10 miles from Nellis Air Force Base (to the north) and Harry Reid (formerly know as McCarran) International Airport (to the west), and much of that jet noise is because of the airliners on final approach from the east (their approach path is just south of the field).

    I was a very active intermediate level RC flyer about 20 to 25 years ago returning to the hobby. Catching up with the huge changes from those days in the hobby. I was looking at the new Cirrus SR22T 1.5m as my first electric plane. Im looking at buying the full Spektrum suite. New NX8 radio, G2 charger and G2 batteries. Would you say thats a good plane to restart before venturing to this P51, one of my favourite planes? I was just about to buy the June Nite P51 the predecessor to this guy as here in the UK there are still a few in stock around the RC shops. BNF and Safe select look like Gods gift to the flyer after a long hiatus from the hobby. Would appreciate your feedback on my question and thanks again for great video. Excellent advice and info on battery selection.

      The Cirrus SR22T 1.5m will be a great first electric model for your return to RC! It's also a great choice for getting your wings back before flying the P-51 :) The Cirrus is a bit easier to takeoff and land due to the tricycle landing gear, and flight performance/overall handling is similar for both when using the same batteries. Good luck and welcome back!
