Looking for an unlimited rudder travel?

Here is how to hack the limited rudder travel to unlimited rudder travel with the existing hardware 😊
The challenge:
while loading and unloading your kayak, you most probably will tailstrike your springblade rudder. Especially if you load it onto the rooftop of your car and not a trailer or a pickup like in the US.
There are 3 possibilities to fix it!
1. Native comes up with a new steering tiller below the steering handle without a V-shaped, but a U-shaped groove bottom…. future music…
2. You buy the entire BerleyPro steering upgrade but will only need that little disk, holding the steering wire side by side within the groove bottom…
3. You hack your rudder with the existing hardware while you will need another steering wire that needs to be a little longer, a little less in diameter and a little less stiff than the original.
I show you solution No. 3. However, it is not 100% because of the Natives V-shaped groove bottom, one wire will jam the other while turning the handle in one way or the other. However, you will not need that much ruddertravel on the water, it will not increase your turn radius among the existing possibilities. But, you will not damage your rudder on dry land while lifting the bow end of your kayak as high as you have to.

Nein, das ist nicht möglich. Das nächste Limit wäre die Seilverlegung am hinteren Ruderteller. Dort kommt das Steuerseil durch eine kleine Bohrung nach oben zu den Schrauben zur Befestigung. Wenn diese Bohrung beim Einlenken die kürzeste Entfernung zu den im Boot befindlichen Seilführungshülsen erreicht hat, wäre Schluss. Aber das sind schon etwa um die 110° Ausschlag am Ruder. Aber schon bei 70°/80° Ruderausschlag im Wasser verliert sich jeder Vorteil, denn die Wasserströmung reißt dann am Ruder ab und die Ruderwirkung bricht zusammen. Das ist vollkommen normal und in diesem Fall bremst das Ruder nur noch. Der Vorteil liegt tatsächlich nur bei der Verladung des Kajak an Land. Durch den unterschiedlichen Durchmesser von Ruderteller hinten und dem Steuerteller unter dem Handgriff ist es außerdem so, dass es für einen Ruderausschlag von 90° hinten etwa 180° am Steuergriff erfordert. Mit anderen Worten: mehr davon wäre sinnfrei.
