Le Speaker Phokeer sort de ses gonds face aux «allégations» d’Assirvaden

Le coup de sang du Speaker a surpris les parlementaires des deux côtés de la chambre. Sooroojdev Phokeer a perdu son sang froid face à Patrick Assirvaden. Alors que le ministre du Métro léger répondait aux questions supplémentaires de la Private Notice Question, le député travailliste a eu de vifs échanges avec, entre autres, le ministre Bobby Hurreeram. Assirvaden a notamment lancé : «Komision pe marse!»
Péremptoire, ne souffrant pas la contestation, Phokeer a refusé toute tentative d’explications de Patrick Assirvaden ou d’autres de son parti. Lui reprochant, entre autres : «No! You are shouting!» et exigeant que le député de La Caverne/Phoenix retire ses propos, «you withdraw whatever you said».
«J’ai pas le droit de dire un mot ici, dans cette chambre ?» s’est étonné Assirvaden. Qui ne comprenait pas ce qui lui était reproché : «Monsieur le président, mais qu’est-ce que j’ai dit ?» Assurant qu’il n’a fait que reprendre le mot «commission» suivant ce qu’avait déclaré le Premier ministre lui-même à la presse.
Shakeel Mohamed a bien tenté de s’interposer, faisant remarquer que Bobby Hurreeram avait aussi élevé la voix mais ne s’est pas fait rabrouer pour autant. «Vous ne semblez pas entendre» quand les commentaires viennent de l’autre côté de l’hémicycle, a ainsi interjeté l’élu de Port-Louis Maritime/Est. «J’entends très bien quand il y a des allégations sérieuses», a rétorqué le président de l’Assemblée nationale.
Pravind Jugnauth en a rajouté une couche, exigeant que Patrick Assirvaden retire ses propos à son encontre.
Après plusieurs minutes d’échanges tendues, ce dernier s’est plié aux ordres du Speaker.

The speaker himself is unparliamentary.
There is clear discrimination in the House. The opposition has the right to speak and ask questions. Mr Speaker, you need some serious teachings on law and justice. Or else leave your seat to someone who exhibits greater competency in the field.
