FERRY FIASCO: Deputy First Minister quizzed on harm of £30m cut to ferry infrastructure

- The Deputy First Minister, Shona Robison, was pushed on the 'reprofiling' or cut to CMAL's budget.
The convenor of the Net Zero, Energy and Transport Committee, Edward Mountain, asked Ms Robison 'If the Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd-CMAL-budget has gone down by 31 per cent, or has been “reprofiled”, which is a £30 million loss to its budget, that will have no impact on when the small vessels come into service'
Mr Mountain's final question was 'As part of reprofiling the small ferries project, CMAL’s voted loans budget will be cut by 31 per cent or £30 million. What effect will that have on the harbour works that need to be undertaken to ensure that the very ferries that we have talked about being so delayed are actually capable of coming into service?'
Ms Robison said the Scotish government was commited to to funding port infrastructure with an investment plan of £580m.
