  • Hi, everyone!
Hope you are doing well. I've just reached 300 mm romances read (or that's what GoodReads says, I'm still shocked) so I've decided to do a series where I'm going to be recommending my favorite 50 mm romance books. Today I'm recommending books 45 to 50 and there is a bit of everything: young adult, new adult, adult, hockey romances, religious cults, amnesia romance... So you can decide which sounds right down you alley!
    Happy reading,
    Laura💛

Congrats on reaching the 300 mark, that a whole lotta MM books! 👏 If I remember correctly, My first (or at least one of the first) contemporary gay romances I read was book 1 in the CU Hockey series and I'm really grateful for it because it catapulted me into the genre, especially after I read that second book you mentioned, Face Offs & Cheap Shots. After that book I binged the whole CU Hockey series and the companion Puckboys series because they were such solid, dependable books for when I needed something more lighthearted but still entertaining. It also introduced me to the series structure of having standalone romances where the next book features a side character from the previous book and so on, which I've come to love.
I'll add Gravity to my TBR too! Since I haven't read any of Tal Bauer's hockey romances yet, hopefully the pattern in his plot you mentioned won't be something that bothers me. It's a shame when authors do that though, I tried reading more Nyla K books after loving For the Fans (from your recommendation as you know, thank you once again!!) and I've noticed her using a specific type of trauma in the main characters' past in all four of the books I've read by her so far. It's not that she executes it badly, it just becomes a predictable part if you've read like, more than two books by her. So yeah, I feel your struggle 😭 All of her romances seem to be a little taboo, but some of her romances are taboo to the point where I'm personally not comfortable reading it, so it's not like I have many more books to read to see if she ever breaks her pattern lol
    Here are my MM recs!:
    - 'The New Guy' and 'I'm Your Guy' by Sarina Bowen, they're hockey romances. In typical Sarina Bowen fashion they're very endearing but also entertaining romance books!
    - Rebel by K.M. Neuhold and Nora Phoenix. It's book 1 in a contemporary MM romance series (all the books can be read as standalones) featuring characters who are in the adult industry, so it's definitely smut-heavy if you're in that mood. I remember the book being a solid, fun time!
    - If you'd like historical romances, more K.J. Charles!
-- 'The Will Darling Adventures' trilogy is one of my favourites; it's a slow-burn series and definitely angsty.
-- 'Think of England' was a solid historical romance too, it was opposites-attract with an engaging plot line and the dialogue was very witty. There's a companion FF romance to the book called 'Proper English' which was a nice lesbian romance.
-- My personal favourite [standalone] book by her is 'Band Sinister', it's a more lighthearted hate-to-love romance with some found family elements. Not sure if you'd love it as much as I did but it's a solid book nonetheless
Sorry for the obnoxiously large comment, I couldn't help myself 🤧

Hi, Mehta!! 💛 CU hockey series is a GREAT place to start MM romance. My fav is the first one, but I know most people prefer the second (i just love nerd-jock romance so much, I can't help myself). I need to go back to Saxon James, I used to love herI'm so sorry to hear that about Nyla K. I've only read for the fans because the rest of her books seems like they are a bit darker than I usually go for or the reviews are not great. I hate patterns, so many authors seem unable to change their structure. It's great for the first, sometimes second book, but after that you are losing interest. I wished they didn't do that. In this case is extra sad because I was waiting for a Nyla K. to publish another book like For the Fans (that it's not too dark for me) 😭😭 I hope you enjoy Gravity! It's my personal favourite because I felt everything Hunter was feeling, so it made it extra special for me-I love connecting with the characters you are reading. The Jock is also good, I think the structure is probably more solid and most people liked it more than Gravity, but I'm not objective about Hunter so. Maybe read the blurb and choose the one that sounds better for you 🥰
Thank you so much for the recs!! 💛 I think I need to give K.J.Charles another try, everyone seems to enjoy those books! I tried a couple but I felt I didn't quite appreciate the action and plot (which were really good) because the writing style wasn't making me feel much. Maybe it's the fact that they are historical romances, mm romances make me sad because I keep imagining queer people back then at it must have been so awful (not that society is perfect now, but at least where I live it's not ilegal to be queer😭).

Everything by Sarina Bowen and KJ Charles is top shelf stuff. I haven’t read any of the CU Hockey series (MM hockey romances are near the top of my favorite genres). I’ll investigate !

‘Gravity’ was very good but, as you say, the second part is not as compelling as the first half of the book. My favourite Tal Bauer book is ‘You and Me’, this time set in the world of college football. I’d put it in the top 20 of all MM books I’ve read (about 200).

Yeah, it was a shame because i LOVED the first part. I still adore the book though 🥺 I've heard so many things about You and Me!! I need to give it priority, I'm always afraid of it because so many people love it i feel my expectations are waaaay too high! Thanks for the rec 💛

I'm glad to find someone else who loved Gravity too, I adored Bryce and Hunter with all my heart 🥺 i still remember vividly when i read the book because it's really hard for me to connect as much with the characters as I did in Gravity 😌

Hopefully ‘Autoboyography’ by Christina Lauren will be part of your list. The most pure, luminous and heartwarming MM story I’ve read. If you haven’t read it, it’s still time before you wrap up your top 50 ! 🤗

I'm sorry to disappoint but it's not one the list 😅 i can't remember which book i read before that one but I remember liking it but not as much as this other book. Maybe it was Aristotle and Dante but I'm not sure 🤔 If i can figure it out I'll told you. I'm glad you loved it so much though!💛 I have to admit I'm not the best audience right now for YA, I tend to relate more to adult characters.
