Best explanation of the Marc Parnes BMW kit I've seen.
Great vid! Thanks for sharing. I just bought a bmw r1250gs and am going to change my own tires and balance them too. I'll be purchasing the BG12 kit.
I had a similar issue trying to balance my front tire (Michelin Road 6 GT on a 1200RT.) No matter what I did, I couldn't zero it in like I did with the rear tire. I stopped when it was similar to the end of this video. The wheel balancer performed exceptionally, and definitely worth it since the closest dealer who could do this is 90 miles away. The video was very helpful, Doug.
I noticed the wind was blowing in the background. Marc Panes warned me, that any wind or air movement from an fan can spin the tires. This can lead to confusing results.
I've had one of these balancers about 10 years. It's quality. I balance all my race tires and street tires with it. Saves you money.
Thanks! I was so impressed, just ordered one for my 95 R100RT. :)
Thanks for the instructional video. I'm not near a BMW dealer and get my tires changed at a local shop. Now I am wondering how they are balancing my wheels. The last tire change had me thinking my wheels were out of balance - but I tried to convince myself they were not. Now I'm thinking I was right all along.
BTW - your link to Marc's site has a typo - and leads to Marc "B"arnes
I realize you are rebalancing a wheel with a used tire, but with a new tire it is better to remove all old weights from the rim and start from scratch.
Yes, I was just trying out the balancer. I agree, new tire, all new weights. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for this vid! As it's a new tire, wouldn't you want to remove the old weights and start over from scratch?
NM, I see this was answered below :)
