  • Enjoy this video as I start off with some Trash Talk giving tips and sharing how I organize aluminum cans and what I use for storage. Then show you how to make a wind chime mobile out of aluminum cans and a gallon size plastic bottle. This project can be a fun addition to your indoor or outdoor decor!
Adirondack Alcohol Inks used in this project were: Citrus, Sail Boat Blue and Sunshine Yellow
    Fiskars 2" punch
24 Gauge wire was used for making the split rings (optional... you could use commercially made split rings... Note: do NOT use jump rings unless you solder them closed)
18 Gauge wire was used in the lid assembly and hanger
    2 Swivel hooks
    Empty aluminum soda pop cans
Empty 1 gallon square water bottle
    Jingle Bells
For your convenience, here are links to the steps included in this tutorial:
    1. 3:01 How to cut an aluminum can
    2. 5:26 Cut 48 Circles using a punch
    3. 6:18 How to pierce even holes on a circle
    4. 7:46 How to make a split-ring
    5. 9:36 How to link to circles to make the strands
    6. 11:22 Cut the water bottle and punch holes
    7. 12:18 Add alcohol inks for color
    8. 12:43 Attach strands of circles
    9. 13:17 Make a hole in the plastic lid with an eyelet setter
    8. 13:35 The lid assembly and hanger
    10. 14:36 Attach center strand
    11. 15:48 Review and Enjoy

I just love this idea and purchased a round punch just for this. It is finished and I love it but did have to buy o-rings to put together because mine kept snagging on each other in the wind. Also I put 2 o-rings between each circle for more movement. Thanks for great idea!

Yes, I agree with +CreativeTube. I love the project and thoroughly enjoyed the video instructions and presentation. There wasn't any part of the instructions that left me being unclear about a step. I'm going to enjoy making these as soon as I get the courage to approach people at the recycling center to 'buy' their recycling off them since no one in my family drinks soda or bottled water - lol. I'll be thinking up a way to do this with items in my own recycling/trash bin until then. I really enjoy CAC events. Thank you for participating.

    • @pTanino
      @pTanino  Před 8 lety +1

+Susan Bishop This has been hanging outside and one of the things I noticed that i really love about it is the aluminum is so lightweight that the circles move even when there is no detectable 'breeze'. It's held up to strong winds without getting tangled. There is a slight chiming.. the sound of the bells isn't very prominent I think because they are the heavier type that give that 'deeper' jingle (like reindeer bells vs tinkle bells... sorry.. does that make sense?) It sounds pretty cool though ... very subtle ... the aluminum circles give a nice rustling sound... i think next time i might try a different type of bell. I'm thrilled to hear you like this and want to try it!! I'd love to hear how yours turns out! Thanks for watching and commenting!! ~ Pam
