I can’t wait till the day the NBA releases the footage of every single Michael Jordan game in HD.
Put it in a dvd box set
@@potentially__9445 nah DVDs will likely be obsolete by the time it happens. It’ll probably be digital.

They don't have footage of most of MJs first few seasons. Imagine what we're missing
@@svendragon8139 a lot. Lots of crazy layups and dunks.
I never realized how good this guy was until I seen these highlights from the 80s he’s definitely the best to ever play in the nba
That’s where CZcams has been helpful. I heard about Jordan like everybody else when he was already the man and the shoes came out. Watching his first few games and seeing how good he was right out of the gate is incredible.
Dude could free throw line dunk with no strength training and no special diet (he famously ate mcdonalds most days as a rookie...). With modern training his physical abilities would have been mind blowing.
What planet have you been living on?
But they didn't play any defense back then. Did you even watch the video? Lol
You also watch your uncles or grandpas, they used to be plumbers and tax collectors.
Fun fact: MJ was 3rd in PPG and also scored the most points in the NBA his rookie season. He was also an MVP candidate!
Rookie Allen Iverson dropped 50, and set NBA record with 4 straight games with 40 pts or more.
@@nymphopath9816 yeah but Mike led the league in total points as a rookie
@@midwestking100 Yeah Jordan is best. i was just sharing random fact.
He wasn't going to win MVP over Bird and Bernard King lead the league in scoring that season
@Kai 9 Bird was second in the league in scoring in 85
What rookie has these kind of numbers lmfaoo ? He was soo good and his fundamentals along with insane athleticism are the reasons why
28ppg as a rookie
Oscar Roberson, wilt
Actually Kareem averaged 28.8 his rookie year
No one in the modern era. Magic had great season but he had Kareem.
To be far. NCAA had better coaching and was more competitive then. It’s not like today. It would be like someone dominating ncaa for three years, summer league and G league two years. Still impressive as fuck
This game was two days after the All-Star game. That's the game of the 'freeze-out'. So he goes out and gets his then career-high off the Pistons. This is why I love players like Mike. Get pissed and take it out in your play.
"Oohhhh, it's like that!? Ok. Ok. We'll see what's up next time". 😁
"That freeze-out? I took that personally."
Haha, I immediately looked at the date when the announcer made that comment at the beginning! Classic MJ. Took it personal...
Jordan was light years ahead of his time...he was doing hesi's before it was even a move
His game is STILL futuristic today, and it's been almost 20 years since he hung them up for good!
He was also splitting the D and doing sick behind the back dribbles and making people fall.
Ahead of his time, absolutely. Ahead of our time? Not a chance.
@@airforcecr7425 you better not be tryna disrespect black Jesus...cuz he'd whoop ass if put in any given era of basketball
2:46 dude was so quick and athletic when he first came in, it was almost unfair to his opposition.
That's why he's the "Black Cat"
I swear that looked like the kind of thing young DRose used to do.
@@poindexterflex3528 yea, superior speed and quickness. when they take off and go downhill right at the defender and quickly change direction. players didn’t have the foot speed to keep up.
This is why they had the Jordan rules, he embarrassed them and was so good they had to create rules for him which basically meant tackle his ass lmao😂
Love how on his early NBA days he was so aggresive and fearless.
When MJ had the ball at the top of the key, you dead!
😂😂😂😂
Laimbeer and Thomas can take consolation 36 yrs later that even though MJ was a rookie, he was the GOAT that beat them.
Rookie Jordan was a good as a prime Kobe Bryant put that in perspective. M.J. was truly the GOAT
Dudes are still using "Crack"?
Rookie Jordan >>>>>> prime Kobe
Wow, no.
@@user-jg6gu87tfcdrtbb Both losers.
Rookie Jordan played in the mid-80s and had just come off of three years of high-intensity NCAA ball. He could already score a lot. Prime Kobe took the leap from HS and lost minutes bc of that. Also MJ was drafted to a shitty Bulls team where he practically had free reign to do whatever, but Kobe had Shaq to contend with on his team, so he wasn’t afforded that same luxury. Context.
These are some of the great footage of young MJ. All these dunks are early MJ style before he developed the "leaner" dunk. Some of the best athletic display ever imo. Just driving straight down from the top of the key at full speed, no one could have stopped him. Signature early MJ moves. I wonder how much his foot injury affected him down his career. I know he is still the GOAT, but I just feel like rookie MJ had a different level of hang time.
Love MJ's Younger highlights
There will never be a better player than MJ. James can play for another 50 years and my opinion wont change. MJ is on another level. never was seen or will be seen again. period!
Take ur meds old man lebron passed up MJ when he hit 40k

Yea but even MJ said Isiah was the toughest player he had to defend… Bc he was that Era Kyrie Irving just a Way Better Passer and Leader and I Love Kyrie
No he wasn’t not by a long shot
Bro what? Isaiah dropped Jordan off in the playoffs 3 years in a row. There was never a huge difference in talent on their teams. The Celtics had a lot more talent than the Pistons. The Pistons just played well together.
@@Jman511x Pistons "punch" and "kick" their way to those series. They have Joe Dumars, Isiah Thomas in their primes, they had Rodman and Laimbeer as the enforcers to injure Jordan, Microwave as 6th man. I say Jordan had, not yet All Star Pippen, and a bunch of young players . That's a fcking stupid argument you got there.
@@darkravemaster16 Please stop riding Jordan. Isiah and Rodman are 2 years older than Jordan, Dumars is the same age as Jordan, lmao they’re barely older than him. Both teams had the same core all 4 series and the Bulls only won 1 out of 4. You can sit there and say Pippin or Grant were too young but then I can say Laimbeer and Mahorn got old, and Isiah was coming off a major injury when they finally lost😂. Let’s put all the excuses aside, they were getting their ass kicked which is why Jordan hates Isiah to this day. They put the Jordan rules on his ass and it took him 4 years to figure them out. Y’all gotta stop with the bs excuses I love Jordan to but c’mon let’s be real here, Isiah owned him in the 80s.
Is MJ the best NBA Player of all time? Of course he is!
He’s not. Just an opinion.

This was the first game after the All Star freeze out and Michael Jordan wanted to get revenge on Isiah
MJ had to send that message to Isaiah, " I'm the baddest man on the planet "
Nope . Mj without pippen rodman and phil was nothing. He needed them to beat pistons later. Mj could not even beat larry bird before. If mj was that great why only he is been to six time nba finals.

That dunk at 2:46 is one of the best dunks of his career and rarely gets shown, check out the quickness 😲
I don't think I had ever seen it before. I agree it's one of his best!
Seeing a game like this I can understand why the Pistons started clobbering Jordan. Here the Pistons are, trying to be King of the Mountain, and this rookie comes along, already clearly better than all of them, and starts to embarrass their entire team while they are trying to hold on to pride and dominance. The Pistons were fighting to stay relevant and win their championships and make their legacy. It just so happens they turned into the Bad Boys and started hurting everyone.
You are absolutely right!
Speaking of clean, those bulls jerseys
They won't admit it,but bulls management knew they hit a gold mine even if they didn't qualify 4 the #1 pick in the draft, the run-up 2 the olympics surely had them feeling "ok,we may not make the coin toss choice, but this guy(MJ) is once-in a lifetime gate attraction kind of guy."
This is why the created the Jordan Rules . They said foul the hell out of him . Bang him up , they had to to beat him
The "Jordan rules" were essentially the Pistons admitting they COULDN'T GUARD Jordan. They played with the cracks in the rules and got away with it. Well, for a while at least.
So the hack a Shaq
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS RARE 80's GAME! I would love to see ANY more of Jordan's 80's games. Especially the high scoring games. Be great if you could include any good shots from key matchup opponents. Like Dominique, Barkley etc.

Wow a young MJ with hair and still super athletic flying in the air like its nothing and wearing those iconic OG Chicago 1s 😮💨😮💨😮💨
That shuffle step crossover was stupid ‼️💪🏾😂💯
He dropped 49 before the 3 point era. 👀
This is when they were playing bully ball too. That physical as hell D.
Anyway, people talk about having more ReBoUnDs and AsSiSts, he could do it but he relegated a lot of that to his teammates as a he was a pure SG who could play other rolls.
The assists thing is an easy answer: Triangle offense, that’s why he didn’t average more.
Rebound? He played amongst titans. Guys who were all timers in those categories but also the position he took on the field and playing off the lane and guarding behind free throw shooters and guarding the backcourt. This is also why his steals numbers are crazy high being 3rd all time in NBA.
People don’t understand the nuance of the game and simply look at stats and make wild conclusions.
Boy the D in this game is like yo d in real life... Soft as hell

Michael was just incredible!!! Anything he caught inside the 3 point line was an automatic bucket,' Top of the key? It's gud... Left wing? It's gud.......Right wing? It's gud!
WOW idk where you get those old classic games but i really appreciate it!!!..... did anyone noticed when MJ made the AND ONE layup in OT but the ref 1st time said no basket..... the camera pans to the crowd and yes every one is booing about that horrible call but it was armless booing with smiles on their faces....i guess ppl were wayyyy less aggressive they what they are now!!! :(

MJ one game highlights could be more interesting than other stars' career highlights.
Truly in a class of his own wow damn
Absolutely ridiculous highlights 🐐
No Rookies doing this
The greatest ever michael jordan my idol
daaang he baits defenders on his driving, then switched gears to blow by
See this is an example of why Last Dance could have been more comprehensive. They could have put the audio of the announcers at the beginning, and they could have also put the audio of Marv Albert in their first confrontation after Bulls swept them. They played in Chicago Stadium and ISiah and Jordan had a long talk in center court just before the game started. They could have tried to ask them what they were talking about.
Tons of people don’t realize MJ was the best player in the league before he stepped foot in the NBA.
When that college USA team went 8-0 against the NBA All Stars, and MJ embarrassed the best the NBA had to offer before he even got drafted…even Bobby Knight knew he was the GOAT already!

You can see at the end of the game, players shaking hands, relax, really good to see.
Then MJ torched them so much even when his team was loosing, they had to put violence in their defence, from then they were hated by the whole league except their fans, now Zeke is whining because he was not in the Dream Team, man, I'm so glad he's eating his own shit...
*MJ is the past, the present, the future. He's The GREATEST OF ALL TIME!* 💪🏽🐐
Unlike other self-proclaimed GOATs, MJ was already a killer in his rookie season.
This was a "revenge" statement game for Michael Jordan because of the infamous "freeze out" all star game in 1985 because guys like Isiah Thomas, who is the star player of the Detroit Pistons and a Chicago native was jealous of Michael Jordan because he was getting all the attention than any other player and Jordan was more popular than Larry Bird and Magic Johnson and even Isiah Thomas because Isiah was a popular figure for Chicago basketball and here comes a more popular, but more exciting, skillful, and amazing to watch, but also Michael Jordan was a "bigger than life" character to the whole sports world and the other players didn't like that because they thought Michael Jordan was better than everyone around him, even in the Slam Dunk contest, Jordan was wearing a gold chain around his neck, a pair of the "Banned " Air Jordan 1s shoes, which were red and black, and a black and red Nike outfit with the shoes as well and that created jealousy of the other all star players, Including Isiah Thomas. So the next day in the All Star game, which was Michael Jordan's first All Star game as a Rookie, Isiah Thomas and few of his teammates decided not to give Michael Jordan the ball throughout the entire game, which conspired the infamous "Freeze Out" game, and Jordan scored just 7 points in 22 minutes of action and the Eastern Conference team lost to the Western Conference team, which Houston Rockets Ralph Sampson was All Star game MVP with 24 points and 13 rebounds and the Eastern Conference team was led by Isiah Thomas who had a 22 points and Larry Bird had 21 points. That pissed off Michael Jordan because of that situation because few days later, the Chicago Bulls faced the Detroit Pistons and Isiah Thomas and Michael Jordan basically destroyed the Pistons all by himself with 49 points(Chicago Bulls Rookie scoring record) and 15 rebounds, along with 5 assists, 4 steals and a couple of block shots and had help from his teammates like Orlando Woodridge(R.I.P) who had 31 points and the Bulls won the game in overtime and Isiah Thomas had only 19 points, but struggled due to a bad thigh injury and fouled out of the game. From that point of on, the rivalry between the Chicago Bulls and the Detroit Pistons had begun and for the two all Star captains of Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls and Isiah Thomas of the Detroit Pistons aka the Bad Boys for years to come.
@B. Chan Damn right Michael Jordan did. Jordan put big numbers on Detroit Pistons with 61 points in 1987, which the Bulls won in overtime and 59 points in 1988 on Easter Sunday which the Bulls won that game and that infuriated coach Chuck Daly to start the " Jordan Rules " defense to stop Jordan.

I actually thank Isaiah and his crew, because if they hadn't pushed him like they did he wouldn't have become what he is today. Power flows to the one who knows how. Desire alone is not enough.
MJ'S rookie season number's are better than Kobe Bryant's MVP season and is on par with LeBron's MVP seasons.

I'm only 12yrs old but I understand back then the game defense is so good not like today's game. Don't get me wrong I watch 80's 90' and 2000 I realize the defense today is full of crap.
49 as a rookie shooting TWOs and these dudes today can barely get 30 shooting 3s. And every point was either a work of art or textbook or both.
Ruthless 80's defense at 0:22
Mike use to torch Isaiah and all the rest from day 1!!! That's why they hated on him and some still do!!! MJ is the Greatest of all time!!!!!
Fun fact, that was the last time Michael and Isaiah slapped hands too 😂😂😂
That dunk when he got the running start was insane speed and athleticism! Terrible defense lol but still, so explosive!
terrible d? There's nothing you could do.
49 points back then is equivalent to 80 points in today's game. Defense was tough back in the 80s and points were harder to come by.
No not necessarily todays game and schemes are much more advanced than back then with by far more athletic and talented players
These types of games are exactly why they came up with the Jordan Rules.
If we can’t stop him with defense, just beat the crap out of him.
And he did all that in Jordan 1's :D
