I am Panamanian and I reside in Panama. I just purchased a Ridgway clock, model 2048. I wish I could adjust it to make its bells go on.

Can you make a video that shows how to put the chains back on? We recently moved and took down the chains along with the weights... and now we don't know how to put them back! Please help!

@@SamTheMountainBikeBeast JUNK. My mother got one from the bank years ago when she put in some money on a CD, all the brass corroding. Going to have some fun repainting it and trying to fix it. Free is good, not worth the money! Go on pinterest, if you can't make it work some people put in battery operated mechanisms and then put in shelving where the weights would be.

@@micheleshari618 Sounds like it wasn’t handled properly. I have one from the mid 1980’s and the brass on it is still shiny as ever. Battery movement lessens the value of the clock drastically.

we inherited this beautiful clock from my wife's parents ...
it was transported to our house ...since then it no longer works correctly...
i assume that the weights got mixed up ...i researched the placements of the
weights on your website ...it says that the weights are labeled ...
    however I cannot find such labels... L M R
could you please tell me by weight the orientation of the weights
it is a Ridgeway Clock, model # 162 with E movement
    thank you

I know this is from a while ago, but I figured that I could answer this.
The lightest weight goes on the left of the clock. Next, the second heaviest for the middle. The weight on the right should be the heaviest one. If you can weigh the weights, you should be able to reassemble them properly.

Are the weights important on the less expensive clocks?

    • @ssahiljava2179
      @ssahiljava2179 Před rokem

If it's a battery clock, then no. But if it's mechanical, it's very important to have the weights installed properly

My son inherited a Ridgeway Grandfather clock from his Grandfather. Recently the two side weights do not drop. Due to this issue the clock does not chime. I do hear the clicks happen @ the 1/4,1/2 and top of the hour. Any remedies? I live where there is no clock repair people within 2 hours

grandfather clocks like this range anywhere from $2000 to well over $30,000 depends on how elaborate of a unit you want, check the used market on craigslist I've seen these clocks from a little as a few hundred to $1500 or so in good running order, vintage ones from companies that are no longer in business or that have features modern ones don't have can fetch even more money

You forgot to say you had to stop the pendulum when setting the time. Otherwise, you would be forcing the mechanism.

Mary Greene You've probably jammed the weight under the seatboard. Gently try and prise the book out of the hole. After you've done this I would recommend stopping it with some keyrings.

I inherited one of these from my mother, not an old one but made like garbage. All the brass parts, the pendulum, and weights are plating and rusted through. The chains came off. Trying to repair it just for fun. Definitely not an heirloom or worth anything. Cheap junk.
