What is central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia?
Central Centrifugal Cicatricial Alopecia (CCCA) is a form of scarring alopecia on the scalp that results in permanent hair loss. It is the most common form of scarring hair loss seen in black women. However, it may be seen in men and among persons of all races and hair colour (though rarely). Middle-aged women are most commonly affected.
What is the cause of central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia?
The exact cause of CCCA is unknown and is likely multifactorial. Hair care practices, such as the use of the hot comb, relaxers, tight extensions and weaves, have been implicated for decades, but studies have not shown a consistent link. Other proposed causative factors include fungal infections, bacterial infections, autoimmune disease, and genetics. One study has shown an association with medical conditions such as type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Clinical features of central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia
Hair loss typically begins at the vertex or mid-scalp and extends outward in a centrifugal manner. There is loss of the follicular openings on examination of the scalp. Thus, the scalp may appear shiny. While some persons do not have symptoms, tenderness, itch and burning are common. Hair breakage may also be an early sign of CCCA. Hair loss is slowly progressive. A photographic scale has been developed to rate the severity of the central hair loss.
    Biotin
Reference Guide Complementary and Alternative Medicine Guide Supplement Vitamin H (Biotin)
    Vitamin H (Biotin)
Vitamin H, more commonly known as biotin, is part of the B complex group of vitamins. All B vitamins help the body to convert food (carbohydrates) into fuel (glucose), which is used to produce energy. These B vitamins, often referred to as B complex vitamins, also help the body metabolize fats and protein. B complex vitamins are needed for healthy skin, hair, eyes, and liver. They also help the nervous system function properly.
    Hair and Nail Problems
Very weak evidence suggests that biotin supplements may improve thin, splitting, or brittle toe and fingernails, as well as hair. Biotin, combined with zinc and topical clobetasol propionate, has also been used to combat alopecia areata in both children and adults.
    Pumpkin Seed Oil
Researchers from the Republic of Korea's Pusan National University have confirmed that pumpkin seed oil increases hair growth among balding men.
    Finish the study here: www.hindawi.com...
In comparison, among the placebo group, 28% had increased baldness and 64% were unchanged, while only 7.7% were slightly or moderately improved in hair growth.

Any hair loss problem can be fixed by changing one's diet to a healthier one. It just means one's digestive system isn't getting the proper nutrition it needs for your body to function properly so in turn, certain physical attributes like hair, nails must be sacrificed to keep other organs functioning. If you want to fix the problem, do it internally for permanent results. externally treating the symptoms will only be temporary. Hope it helps.

Everytime I comb it stuff like meal from my scalp, I washed every other day but still it felt so tight , so I went to my Dr and he looked at my scalp and told me that I have Seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp and he gave me prescription for a shampoo called Selenium Sulfide and cream to put on my scalp called Triamcinolone Acetonide. I been on them for 2 weeks my scalp feels so much better, hopefully my hair grows back in front.and top. God bless you.

I like this young lady!!!! AND she is on point with the Biotin. Higher dosages ( 2500+) work to releive the pain and inflammation caused be the Central Centrifugal Cicatricial Alopecia.
I had stopped taking it and was using Via Revitalization Stimulating Regrowth Creme (the blue one) but the ONE hair supply place that carried it, in my city, stopped. They have the other Via products but not the BLUE one. It has the DHT Blocking she's mentioning. BUT NO GROWTH! At any rate I am back on the Biotin....5Kmcgs and it relieves the pain.
I saw this Sweetie Pie last year....She was so encouraging.....and I TRUST that the LORD has lead me to her again, because all of a sudden, there she was. Before watching this vid I saw her update from Dec 2016...HALLELUJAH! She has hair! LOTS & LOTS of Hair! GOT TO GET THAT OIL!!!! MY hair is not growing, but I know the FATHER is answering my pray!

My mom and her biological mother both have alopecia. I think i have it as well because of my hair texture, thinning and bald spots, but I'm not sure if it's from a lack of hair care and wearing wigs. I use to never wear weave and now no one will catch me without. Ive tried looking for answers and remedies but I'm never consistent. Not only is this infomative but you keep me locked in and entertained every step of the way lol. Thank you so much. I trully aporeciate you.

Awww thanks. I pray that your alopecia is cured and I pray these remedies would work for you. Also be careful with the chemicals in the weave it can cause an allergic reaction with alopecia or sensitive scalps. Make sure you soak synthetic hair in 2 caps of apple cider vinegar and a bin full of warm water. This will release the chemical on the synthetic hair.

+BlackHairandSkincare Quick question: Have you ever tried Bactin spray? I just read an article for Alopecia patients, and someone stated that it relieves the itching almost immediately plus Huggies baby wipes. In my case, the affected area does not burn or itch during fallout, but rather when the hair starts to grow back. This is my second big chop and it did the very same thing, but this time around, I took your inverted method advice and the hair is growing much faster (hence the unbearable itching). I also read Milk Thistle works good as it has anti inflammatory properties. I happen to have some when I went on a health kick :-). Anyway, thanks for your time!

I have Thyroid issues and I take Synthroid and the middle of my head OMG and the top is thinning and around the sides and back is thick as all out doors. My Dr. keep telling me that my hair will grow back and its been years an nothing has worked. I am going to try the Biotin and peppermint shampoo and conditioner. I do not have pain so I might even try the Listerine. Thanks.

you should eat it pumpkin seed oil lol ..it is an internal problem ..pumpkin seed oil use externally doesn't help stopping dht internally ..you can and should do both...you can find online pumpkin seed oils bottles ...ans use the caplets internally then... i take pumpkin seed oil internally and i do not even have alopecia ..but as we age it helps balance the dht hormone that gets too much and kind of store in our body and reduces over time our hair growth and thickness as we grow old and head towards menaupose . ..keep it up you look great with short hair anyway ..saw palmetto also balance hormones and helps aloepcia ..but always keep in touch with your doctor so he can monitor you .too much of anything is not good either ...

Wigs are not for me. My hair prior to alopecia was natural (locs). It is so unnatural for me to wear wigs be it synthetic, human, straight, curly, lace or non lace, .....God Bless those that can ROCK wigs!

I have had this issue for over ten years and I noticed that it comes back in the summer time. Yes, biotin is awesome! Only thing about biotin vitamins is that if you don’t have the money to keep buying those vitamins don’t even start it because the moment you stop taking them or you can’t afford them anymore all that hair growth is going to be for nothing because your hair is going to start coming out in clumps but if you can keep it up it is a good thing🌻🌻🌻🌻

I take 2,000 units, which is one pill every other day and then take 2 pills or 4,000 units the next day and just alternate it like this or just get the 5,000 units per pill and take one per day, let me know how it works. I’d be surprised if it doesn’t work for you. Also I don’t get sick as often because it’s great for the immune system. Vitamin D3 is good for joint pain also
