    You just told my story!! I, too was losing hair, saw a doctor and was diagnosed with "hot comb syndrome " basically a black hair loss condition..smdh. the Caucasian doctor thought he had me figured out. The only thing I was guilty of was perming my hair and then when I experienced excessive hair loss and shedding, I turned to braids which was the worst thing to do. I had a landing strip width of hair loss straight down the middle of my head. Saw a black dermatologist who did a biopsy and told me it could be due to my auto immune disease "lichen planus" but the she did not agree with the previous doctor's diagnosis of alopecia because my hair follicles were still living. She advised me to stop all processes including weaves, perms, braids and anything that would create tension and stress to my hair. At that moment I decided it was time to go natural. I cut what was left of my hair, took iron pills, vitamin D3, biotin and used all natural hair oils and products, oh I also did a liver detox!! my hair has COMPLETELY grown back!I've even cut it several times because I'm no longer in fear of not growing hair. I pray that our testimonies reach the hopeless and inform them with proper nutrition, doing away with chemicals and stressful tight hairstyles, loving your hair and yourself and you can overcome many things!! I'm "Naturallyblingin" on IG. there are a few pics in the beginning of my page with pics of my hair loss . God Bless You for sharing your story. 😘😙

    Your story just Made me cry.. I was diagnosed with this also but mine was at a VERY VERY young age. I've always had think long hair and in 2nd grade, my hair started falling out. By the end of the school year, I was completely bald.. I even lost my eyebrows.. So I had to wear wigs to school smh in elementary school.. The doctors told me I would never get my hair back.. And I never cried not one day... Maybe i was too young to understand... But now when I think about my testimony, I cry tears of joy...Becuz after HEAVY prayer my hair slowly started to grow back.. By the 5th grade, I had enough hair to get box braids and that was pretty much all I wore until it all came back.. By the 8th grade, my hair was past bra strap length... Remember ladies GOD has the final say..

    Hi, i cried watching you cry but i refused to cry when my 11 year old son was diagnosed with AA. I teach my son not to judge people the whey they look so how could i judge or make pity of him because of his hair. His hairloss got to the point that some girls in his school asked his friends if he has cancer. He was not sad about it. He went out without hat . He played his sports matches and the huge bold spots were visible on his head when he was running. He was suposed to get corticosteroid therapy in hospital but dr said the hair grows so fast in 4 month time he does not need it . Our therapy is local, Minoxidil and corticosteroid. Dr said nobody can be sure what helped. And nobody knows when hair loss can occure again. My son asked me if he could turn out to be bold complitely and i said yes and showed him pictures of bold girls and boys and we agreed they looked beautiful. Sending you love from Croatia.

    Wow, this video was a lot for me, I went natural in 2010, after I realized I had a bald spot in the middle of my scalp. I did my own research and figured out that I had alopecia. To further educate myself I went to a dermatologist and was diagnosed in 2011, where I was given a topical shampoo and several cortisone shots (sometimes 20-25 shots in one session) that would give me headaches. I wasn't trying to live that life (lol), so I switched my dermatologist after I was diagnosed because she came off very judgmental like, yes I did have control on what I do or put in my hair, but if no one is educated about it there was no way for me to know. My second Dr. was patient and understood my reasons for not wanting to the cortisone shots anymore and just living a healthier lifestyle and I decided to just use natural products on my hair. I was tested for Lupus (came back negative) which was recommended by my dermatologist.
    Since then my hair has been growing back and I've been using oils (mainly castor oil) on my scalp. I've seen a difference and so have my family members, my hair is thicker although it's not what it use to be before, but I'm patient and happy that I'm no longer using chemicals or doing cortisone shots that had side effects, that I couldn't handle.
    Again, I thank you for bringing awareness to everyone who sees this video. It took a lot to watch, because as much as people may sympathize or cry with you, it's just not the same. I know it will touch anyone who has been diagnosed with this to let them know they're not alone, and there's hope. Peace and love, keep pushing. :-)
    PS. Sorry for the essay, lol!

    Can fully relate to you 100%. Finished uni and travelled back home to stay with my family, and that very same day I took a shower and applied my shampoo on my head and was rubbing my scalp only to find out I was losing more hair than I normally would. I didn't take note of this and thought it was normal not until my sister came over to my room while I was sitting down my chair and she fully saw the areas in where my hair loose is taking place. My initial reaction was honestly and I honestly thought this; old age. Even though I'm 20 🤔. Though I forgot to mention that before 2 weeks before I broke up for uni I had started the course of taking biotin once a day, and thought biotin deficiency was the cause of my issues but even though when I stopped the biotin the problem was still getting worse. Hooked an appointment and done a blood test and the doctors honestly were stupidly redundant in all areas. More so to the point they didn't even know what biotin was -_- like really???. I ended up throwing all things I didn't need in the bin and decided to cut my hair and start from scratch. I mean if I'm losing hair what's the point keeping it on my heads if it's ready to fall out. Just a matter of time really. My hair is starting to grow back as normal but still see patches of hair loose which scares me till this day, but you know what... Accepting the way you look like is more more important in the long run. In the end no one knows you better than your self. Btw I'm a guy (African British)

    This video is so inspirational to me. I'm going through the same thing trying to get my hair back to what it was. I don't think people truly understand how hard it is living with this disease, it scars your confidence and it really makes you feel embarrassed. I've always had really long thick hair and I was getting relaxers for a very long time from like age 9 till about 24. around 23-24 I started noticing my hair thinning out so I thought it was the relaxers so I decided to go natural. I did a cut and noticed small balding spots on each side of my hair and a small one in the middle of my head. I panicked because I've always loved my hair and people have always admired it and now this was not what I was used to. After a year of growing my hair out and cutting of the remainder of the perm I noticed my spots filling in a little only after I would often just rub organic coconut oil on the balding spots. I'm 2 years natural and I still have the spots but they are not really noticeable but are steadily growing in. I also learned that my mom had the same thing happen to her in her late 20's in the same spots as mines and her hair grew back in completely after about 3 years. I just wanna thank you for sharing your story because it doesn't feel like I'm the only person facing this. Again your video was truly inspiring to me because I really don't thing I could be so courageous to share my journey. I've never even told anybody other than my mom and commenting on this post. :)

I did a biopsy too and when the derm told me my hair wouldn't grow back I sat and I cried. I try not to let it bother me but sometimes I wish I could wear my hair out but it's realllyy patchy (big patches) so I'm always in wigs and weaves. Ortavia try organic nettle tea leaves. I recently shaved my head and didn’t notice these bold spots until my hair started growing again. It honestly could be down to all my recent stress as well. I drank it in the passed n my hair was always thicker after a month or two. However I’m drinking it now to see if my bald spots will completely disappear. After a month of drinking this, hair has just started growing in those areas. Im pretty sure I have alopecia but we should never let these labels define us. Eat foods to reduce inflammation and remove mucus in the body, go to the sauna if you can to sweat out these toxins in your body. You should see a difference 3/4 months. Please do some research on Nettle and possibly speak to a Herbalist/ Doctor incase you have any other conditions. Just to share how I drink it, every night I take two big spoons of nettle leaves and put it in a glass jar and boil some water and pour into the jar. Make sure the lid of the jar is tight and leave it overnight on my kitchen countertop. When I wake up in the morning thats the first thing I drink and I make sure to drink lots of water after too. Sends me straight to the bathroom haha. I tend to take two days off after drinking for like two weeks. Try for three months and it should wake up your hair follicles and see if there is a difference. It takes some time but we can ALWAYS reverse these conditions, our body just wants the tender love and care 😅❤️ and just have to believe and be positive. Good luck! 🤗

    I have been experiencing everything that you described for the past 3 years. I have had problems with my skin since birth and have been in and out of dermotologists offices since birth. I have constantly been misdiagnosed and about 2 years ago I was accurately diagnosed with Seborrheic dermatitis and seborrhea on my face, back and scalp. When I began losing my hair my dermotologist just told me that it was a result of my skin condition. December 2015 I went to a new dermatologist and she did a biopsy on my scalp and later diagnosed me with Alopecia Areata. I have been experiencing so much pain and tenderness with my scalp. I have been wearing wigs that I make so that I did not have to manipulate my hair. My father's side of the family has really thick curly hair because they have native american genes, and I guess that I was blessed with some of them so no one believed me when I told them that I have been losing chunks of hair because to them my hair still looked super thick and healthy. I took great hair of my hair, low manipulation hair styles. I could tell the difference in the thickness in my hair and the texture of my hair. It became super dry and brittle and my curl pattern changed drastically. I was not putting any type of heat to my hair unless i was deep conditioning it. I have always had low self esteem because I always get teased because of my skin. With me being both darkskinned and having seborrheic dermatitis I got picked on constantly so knowing that I was also balding just had be down in the dumps. I just received my first cortisone shots in my head 6/4/16 and I was told that I will have to do this every month. If you have any advice on how to battle this please let me know.

    • @Cookie4XO
      @Cookie4XO Před 8 lety

      Be cautious with the cortisone shots, they are steroids and will/can make you gain an excessive amount of weight over a short period of time. My Dr told me to prevent that you can go on the candida diet, there are many variations of it on the web. Some stricter than others.

    Same shit is happening to me. And I asked myself the same questions in my teens. I went natural at 16-17 your story is identical to mine. And I always wondered if I'm doing the right things to my hair. I thought it was traction alopecia as well but it was NOT. my hair was literally just thinning and I'm still facing this. My hair has gotten so terrible and I'm super depressed about it. my hair has always been thick when I was younger. And I started noticing these changes in middle school. I was age 12-13. and I just feel like giving up smh. You're blessed girl I'm glad it all worked out for you!

    hey i had this when i was about 12 and i remember it was right after i got my hair cut i had like 8 bald spots all over my head. i was so confused and afraid that it was something life threatening until i went to a dermatologist. The dermatologist told me that i had alopeca areata and that my hair could possibly never grow back. I was only 12 in middle school so at this point i broke down inside... they told me there are treatments but no cure. i had to get injections in the patches and rub clobetozol on my scalp for years. I got it November 2011 and at school i got bullied so much that the person i was before was completely gone. My confidence and my inner self were destroyed. Thanks to the lord in March of 2015 my hair grew back completely and this is months after i seized all treatments. I try not to take things for granted now and i am so thankful to have a full head of hair but my confidence is still gone. im not completely depressed or anything but that experience changed me as a person and to a certain degree humbled me. I don't judge people anymore, but i hope one day my confidence returns. I understand your emotion and its not only because you lost your hair, Its because of how ignorant people reacted to it at such a young age. im almost 17 now and all i can say is if you are going through this don't worry there is hope my friend.

My hair started falling out at age 22 (I'm now 41 & almost bald mostly on top) after I had major surgery with general anesthesia followed by a prolonged fever (both were extreme shocks to my system & my immune system went out of wack. I didn't know back then what was happening though). Literally one day my hair just started falling out & I barely had any hair left in a matter of 2mts. I never went to the doctor as I felt I had caused the hair loss by using this growth oil or by perming my hair myself . I started wearing weaves & some hair grew back, but then it would go thru a cycle of falling out at the crown & growing back until it stopped growing back but kept falling out. I say all that to say that u should try everything u can since ur hair loss just started happening. I was told that the longer u leave ur Immune system to attack ur follicle the more damaged they will get, which means they will eventually never grow hair again. I only wish I had someone to tell me what was happening to me, so that's why I'm telling u because I know how u feel & I hope u get ur hair back🙏🏾🙏🏾

    Hello. I love this video!!! I know how you feel because I have been going through the same thing for 6 years now. I stop taking all the meds the doctors gave me for my scalp. The doctors say my hair will never grow back. It hasn't but watching your video today has given me courage and strength not to give up. I am wearing wigs all the time when I go out. I used to just wear my head bald, but that got old for me. I was told I might have lupus because of my hair. I was recently diagnosed with Complex Autoimmune Disorder. This has been a journey for me. I was crying with you because I know how it feels to not understand what is going on or how to fix it. Most importantly, you don't have any control over what is going on and that is debilitating. I am going to try your method because I truly believe that I can have hair again. I had long pretty hair as well. I had sister locks for 7years and they were beautiful and healthy. All of a sudden my locks started falling out from my scalp. This was in 2011 and it has been a nightmare every since. So, thank you so much for this video!!! You are stronger than what you think and this is a testimony of your strength. God bless you!!!
