That's incorrect inference. Affirmative action is about ensuring equal numbers from marginalized groups get their fair share in the progress. There always were and will be equal number of brilliant people across all demographic groups. After all, no one can make a case that only people from a certain group are smart from birth and others are not. Eliminating caste system will remove social segregation but will not end privilege based handicaps. Reservations is about overcoming this handicap.
The people who oppose caste-based reservation should be made to do the menial jobs as well. After all, if they want equality, then everyone should be eligible to do all kinds of jobs.
