Hoppers ONLY on the Last Day! // Day 7 Patagonia Day-by-Day Series

  • Day 7 we fished the Rio Nirehuao which is a river located 1 hour from the Estancia Del Zorro lodge. There are good-sized brown trout, but the biggest appeal about the Nirehuao throwing big hoppers in sluggish water with lots of time to see them rise! There are lots of riffles too but the big fun for me was stalking the slow edges.
    This 7-day series highlights lakes, small rivers, big rivers, and spring creeks in Patagonia. Filmed daily and all in a single week of fishing.

    I thoroughly enjoyed this series. I watch way too many YT fly fishing channels. Can't help myself when actual fishing is too many days distant. I love your content. They are entertaining and educational in equal measure. Best testimonial I can give: I hear you in my head when I fish. And I catch and understand more because of that.

    Joe I loved watching the series! The views was amazing!! What’s a trip like that cost door to door??

    • @flyfishingnewbie1
      @flyfishingnewbie1 Před 5 měsíci +2

      Cost of the trip on Red's web site is $6,750 per angler... then add airfare cost to get to and from Balmaceda, Chile, and add $700 in tips for the guides and the staff. You may also need to add cost of any flies and tackle you need for the trip. I had almost everything I needed already. You could add a small amount for spending money for souvenirs.

    What waders did you guys use down there? If you could have one set of waders for three season fishing what would recommend

    RIght on! Curious, whats with the beeping a few seconds after you start a new clip?

    • @flyfishingnewbie1
      @flyfishingnewbie1 Před 5 měsíci +1

      That’s the GoPro record button being pressed… when the camera is strapped to your head, the beep helps you know that it’s now recording.

    • @saurfarming3772
      @saurfarming3772 Před 5 měsíci

      Wild that it comes through on the recording, seems like a weird thing to have be part of your video.@@flyfishingnewbie1

    • @flyfishingnewbie1
      @flyfishingnewbie1 Před 5 měsíci

      @@saurfarming3772 It is a bit annoying to have that beep come through... often in my videos I cut that part out so you don't hear it. You can also mute it in post production but it takes some time.

    • @saurfarming3772
      @saurfarming3772 Před 5 měsíci

      So, obviously he is recording before that beep; so does the go pro do an on going auto-record and then you 'turn it on' when you want it to save?@@flyfishingnewbie1

    • @flyfishingnewbie1
      @flyfishingnewbie1 Před 5 měsíci +1

      Yeah... that's right. GoPro (and the Osmos Action 4 camera which is what I use) has a feature called Hindsight that records just the last 30 seconds in memory (but not on the SD card) and then when you hit the record button it keeps those last 30 seconds and tacks on however much time you let it record before hitting the stop record button. It's great for fishing as it means you don't end up with tons of empty footage that you have to sort through to find the fish. It does burn the battery as you are basically recording the entire time that Hindsight is on, but it's worth it to only get clips that I want. I have to bring more batteries with me to last the day.@@saurfarming3772

    Just curious do you use nail knot for your leader to line for Loop to Loop?

    • @redsflyshop
      @redsflyshop  Před 5 měsíci

      Just a loop-to-loop for me, I like the welded loops. If I tie my leader to my fly line I use an Albright Knot. It's a bit stronger than a nail knot and I don't need a tool to do it.

      I don't believe he has a say on what political ads are on his videos.

    • @flyfishingnewbie1
      @flyfishingnewbie1 Před 5 měsíci +1

      Creators don't have much control over what ads CZcams inserts into their videos so it's not Red's or Joe that is choosing those ads... it's CZcams.

    • @redsflyshop
      @redsflyshop  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Good bye I guess. The ads you see are based on your browsing habits or they decided to target fishing content, I don't have a say in it.
